rykr 11
I'm getting pretty good results with my sheild tv. It tends to pause just a bit here and there. My xbox one is terrible and so is my Roku TV even with the preview app. The preview app is better than standard but still not good. What is the best front end device? Apple TV 4K? Fire TV? Pi? mastrmind11 717
shield, hands down. if you're getting pausing on shield or roku (I don't own an xbox so can't vouch), then there is something wrong with your network, your server, or your encoding of your media. I haven't seen a pause or pixel in over a year with either, both wired and wireless. But, you've come to the right place to troubleshoot.

I very often see a brief pause or two when tuning a new tv channel. It usually only happens a time or two and then stops. "I haven't seen a pause or pixel" what does that mean? I can say that FireTV 4K is the worst... do not own Apple products.

arche 174
I've been switching to Roku Streaming Stick +, Plays 4k and Live TV without problem on emby for me (locally and remotely). Going to try shield soon, just haven't gotten to it yet.

arche 174
How is the channel change speed I have roku I think 2016 model but playing mpeg2 takes too long to tune to live tv. I've had no problem, my family that have changed have no issues. But I've only used the 4k version of roku. The firestick I have (non 4k) is horrible with switching in live tv. But I've read and been told the 4k version of the firestick is alot better, haven't tested that. Loading channels on the roku take about 3-4 seconds (non iptv channels), IPTV channels take a few seconds, but I base that on the IPTV provider. I'm using a HDHomeRun Prime also.
