Roku Thumbnails gone

Hi

Emby updated last night to Version 4.1.0.26. And this morning I notice it's no longer creating new thumbnails for new content

I looked at my plugins and notice the Roku thumbnail plugin is gone. I looked in the catalog and can no longer find the plugin... unless i'm blind which is possible I suppose

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hi.  You'll need to configure how you want them created (at what interval) within each library.

I "think" that this may be answered somewhere but I have had no luck finding it.

I had the "Roku thumbnails" plugin installed on both my servers and both were working fine and I had thumbnails on all my Rokus and could navigate without issue using them.

Now, suddenly, it seems the plugin is no longer on either of my servers and no video I've tested can be navigated at comfortably at all.

What happened and does it have anything to do with the torturous convoluted discussion that has been going on the the Android beta section?

I have one regular server and one beta server. I have also tested with both the regular and beta Roku app.

I REALLY miss using the thumbnails and, unless they get replaced, it weakens Emby going forward.

My post was moved to this thread BUT this thread answered NOTHING.

What is needed is instructions as to how to get the desired functionality working not some vague: "You'll need to configure how you want them created (at what interval) within each library."

Where, exactly, is this configured and what does each setting mean and how long should it take to get back to the working situation that existed before. It should not be this hard at all just to get back to the functionality I had before.

Sorry I don't understand what needs explaining, but it is a per library setting now.  Don't know about Android beta discussion as I have no Android devices.  But discussion can be found in the Testing area (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/70896-41012-chapter-image-extraction)

Does this not tell you what you need to know?

One reason blog/announcement needs to come before or at the same time as the release.

It probably would if I could actually find that setting. I have two servers and I cannot find that screen on either.

Manage Library

Turn on Advanced Settings

Scroll down to Turn on thumbnail image creation and check it

Choose thumbnail interval

Check Save Thumbnails into Media Folders

There is no selection that I see for "thumbnail interval" and I absolutely do NOT want anything stored in my media folders. Those folders are only for my media.

BTW,

You may need to to into Scheduled Tasks and kick off a scan afterwards.

Thumbnail images interval?

You don't have to save to your media folder if you don't want to do so. This only makes it easier if you have multiple servers accessing the same library.

Thumbnail images interval?

Where is that? I see no such setting. I know Emby hides many similar settings but I have found the place to turn on thumbnaiis and it offers NO interval setting at all.

Do you have SHOW ADVANCED SETTINGS enabled?

You would have to show what you see in Library settings.

I "Think" I do but where, exactly, is that turned on. I always turn on any advanced settings I see but I sometimes do not fully see what is there.

I HAVE! But I was having trouble seeing any "Advanced settings" to turn on.

You folks have to remember that some of the time you are dealing with old folks even though many of us a pretty technically savvy.

I was missing the little "advanced" button that was hidden (somewhat) by being small and placed on the right side of the screen instead of the left where most other needed info is.

Thanks for the help and I will try to have my old brain remember where to find that advanced setting in the future.

At least you have found it now :)

Yes, I have. It was a bit like the steak at the fancy New Your restaurant. After the meal the waiter asked, "How did you find your steak?" I answered, "I just looked under the potato and there it was."

But again, Thanks to all who helped guide me through this.

Now, how long will it take to get my 4000+ movie libraries back to where they were before all my previously created thumbnails went the way of the dodo.

Emby should still recognise the ones you have, but you will need the correct option set in the library settings, so that the correctly named BIF file is identified, otherwise they may well get re-created.

Your previously created thumbnails will still be usable.

That does not seem to be the case. I do not see any thumbnails at all in any of the libraries that had them before.

Now what setting could I be missing.
