Kent 91
Hi, been running across this problem for a few weeks now. Every so often, the HDHomerun Prime tuners are all locked by the Emby server, yet Emby is not showing any active watchers. Tuners that are locked this way are locked indefinitely, until i manually recycle services. Emby v4.0.2.0 Emby Internal IP: 192.168.1.4 HDHomerun Prime logs (date/time in UTC so -4 hours for EDT): 20190414-16:09:21 Tuner: tuner0 tuning 663 Cooking Channel (auto:195MHz-713) 20190414-16:09:22 Tuner: tuner0 streaming http to 192.168.1.4:64960 20190414-16:09:22 CableCARD: tuner0 663 Cooking Channel (auto:195MHz-713) access = not-subscribed Tuner Info: Tuner 0 Status Virtual Channel 663 Cooking Channel Frequency 195.000 MHz Program Number 713 Authorization not-subscribed CCI Protection none Modulation Lock qam256 PCR Lock locked Signal Strength 100% (3.6 dBmV) Signal Quality 100% (38.3 dB) Symbol Quality 100% Streaming Rate 0.253 Mbps Resource Lock 192.168.1.4 Emby Logs with a minute before and after the corresponding time frame are attached. Any ideas? kind of looks like a user is trying to play the channel and Ffprobe times out on the duration analysis, perhaps failing the stream and locking the tuner? 2019-04-14 12:09:56.160 Error MediaEncoder: Timeout while running Ffprobe -analyzeduration 3000000 -i "http://127.0.0.1:8096/LiveTv/LiveStreamFiles/033d7e604b6b4d5ea7005feff090096f/stream.ts" -threads 0 -v info -print_format json -show_streams -show_format -show_data thanks! Kent 91
Hi @@Kent, what model HDHR is this? Hey @@Luke, This is the Prime. Details below. I found it tied to one user who must be kicking off some wierd behavior. Disabled the users access to Live TV for now and the issue hasn't repeated. There is a new firmware for the HDHR so will apply that and see if it helps. Hardware Model HDHR3-CC Firmware Version 20180817 DTCP-IP DTCP 1.7-SD20180501 WMDRM-NDT WMDRM 10-SD20171110 Memory Report 64 MB SDRAM, 2 MB Flash
Luke 37007
Ok so this does have the dlna features, right?
Kent 91
Ok so this does have the dlna features, right? Yes, this does have the DLNA feature. I do not use it nor do I have Emby DLNA turned on, for what that is worth. And with the update HDHR firmware, this issue is still happening, mainly with remote (Emby Connect) users. I cannot replicate it locally. Edited April 23, 2019 by Kent
Luke 37007
Are you testing with the same app locally that they're playing with?
Kent 91
Are you testing with the same app locally that they're playing with? You know let me find out what app(s) they were using and try local and remote testing and see if i can replicate. I'll come back to the thread and post results. Kent 91
Thanks ! Hi, client is the Emby for Android client on an Android device. I was able to replicate the issue. 1) Get into a poor cellular spot 2) start up a stream 3) trick is that the cellular is so poor, the tuner locks but Emby just spins. Backing out of the page back to home page, and, voila, the tuner is locked but no indication of the channel actually streaming to the device. Also, the admin dashboard never registers that the user started a Live TV session.
Luke 37007
So you're saying it never starts playing?
Kent 91
So you're saying it never starts playing? Correct, just spins indefinitely.
Luke 37007
Ok, making sure the tuner is closed after playback failures is a scenario we'll need to look at. We already have this covered for failures during playback, it's failure to start at all that needs looking at. thanks.

Guest asrequested
I'm not sure if this is related, but I've been having tuners lock up, too. But in my case, it seems to be if I happen to start watching a show that is being recorded. Not watching the recording, but just tuning to that channel/show. Once the show ends and I'm still on that channel, then stop watching, the tuner is locked up and the server reports it's still recording. And also if you tune to that channel before the recording starts, it interferes with the start of recording. I have two HDHR Primes.
DigitalFool 0
I just wanted to chime in to say I also have this issue (and have had it for months, maybe even 6+). I can't pin point it to any release of Emby, but this definitely used to work flawlessly. I've been continuing to update the HDHomeRun firmware, but it hasn't resolved the issue. It's just getting annoying so anything I can provide to help troubleshoot, let me know. The only thing I can say is that it seems to "lock" on that tuner after it finishes a recording. I don't think it's quite 100% every time but after a couple weeks, both tuners are eventually locked and I have to restart to clear them, but I think I can say with confidence it's related to after a show records, never just watching live tv. Both tuners are showing Emby, but no active watchers. I have HDHomeRun DUO with latest firmware: 2019041. I just cycled the server and logs, so I'll see if I can grab that info when it occurs again. DigitalFool 0
Hi, yes please do that, thanks. OK, I recreated the issue today. A show fired and recorded successfully. Verified after the tuner still shows that channel active (locked by Emby). Tonight two channels were set to record and one failed because there was only one tuner available. You want the whole log or should I grab just the recording sections?
denz 426
I had the same issue yesterday it’s only once I restarted the server that it released the tuner. Annoying that it still happens occasionally. I will try to look at the logs to find was it a recording or did I watch that channel on some device. Having a channel name displayed on the recordings details screen that I have asked many times but ignored would help find the recording as I know the channel that wasn't released and then easier to find in the logs. Even if it wasn't for this issue this info is useful we can have useless info like video type but we can't have the channel name makes no sense for a pvr. Edit: It wasn't a recording it was opening a live tv channel in the web client tracked it down through the tuner system log and then searched for that time in the emby server log.
