Emby breaks the connection to the streamdetails of STRM content when subtitles are added with the Emby interface.

What it breaks AFTER adding subtitles:

  • No information is shown in movie detail page for video type (like resolution and codec) and Audio type.
  • Cover Art plugin, showing the cover with the information defined in the settings for the Cover art plugin.
  • New subtitle detail info is NOT added to existing NFO (it only gets added after NEW probe of media)

So before adding subtitles, this is the Movie detail Info:

After adding subtitle with the Emby interface, this is the Movie detail Info:

After adding subtitle with the Emby interface, this is the Media info on Movie detail page:

NFO after adding subtitles with Emby (Cut&Paste of streamdetails only):

Here we see that the NEW srt subs are NOT added to existing NFO.

NFO AFTER new probing of media when subtitles are just added with Emby  (Cut&Paste of streamdetails only):

Here we see that srt subs are ONLY added to existing NFO AFTER probing.

@Luke

Please change the above behavior in Emby for STRM content.

So that ALREADY probed STRM media RETAINS their streaming details in Movie detail page, if only subtitles are added with the Emby interface (or with the automatic subtitle download setting for a STRM library), so that subtitle detail info is added to existing NFO, without the need of probing the media AGAIN.

@Happy2Play

Can you reproduce and confirm for STRM media content ?

When you refresh metadata, the current media info gets cleared out and it will be repopulated on next playback.

When you refresh metadata, the current media info gets cleared out and it will be repopulated on next playback.

So you are saying that adding a subtitle with the Emby interface triggers a refresh of metadata, right ?

That's NOT logical for strm libraries, because it breaks everything considered Cover Art plugin and already probed strm content.

This is unwanted behavior, so what can you do to solve it, because after adding of a subtitle with the Emby interface, the NFO still contains the streaming details, while the user interface of the movie detail page shows that info wiped.

Why doesn't Emby attach the srt info to the current NFO ?

It's ridiculous that the media has to be probed again, when doing subtitle maintenance for all the user content, that needs new subs.
