BP325 0
When I play a video is there a way to have a background image show on the loading screen instead of it being blank?
speechles 1917
@@BP325 You don't mean while the loading spinner is spinning after you choose/press play, right? Since technically there is an image background when that happens and it is behind the loading spinner. You mean the black/empty background of the screen that has the purple loading/retrieving bar on it? Before video actually begins to play. While it is buffering. You want that black background to instead have a backdrop related to the item about to play? You wonder if that is possible? Well yes.. it is entirely possible. Let us look into this. Just like the web client. When you click play you receive the backdrop image with the spinner until the movie is presented. Never paid attention to what the Roku does. Never paid attention to what the Roku does. The Roku cancels the loading spinner that has the background once the video player takes over. The video player throws an entirely black screen up with a purple loading/retrieving bar until it starts the video. It is this black screen that... Yes! We can add any backdrop we want here or anything other than black. We control that presentation. It doesn't have to be a black screen when you change to the previous/next item in a queue as it is loading into it either. It can be a backdrop related to what is about to play. It is possible. Let me talk to @@ebr about what can do here. Edited April 9, 2019 by speechles

speechles 1917
Yes I meant the screen with the purple loading/retrieving bar, sorry for any confusion. The next Beta release will have this addition. Thanks for bringing it up. Any other shortcomings you see? Any other place there is something missing we could be doing? We need your feedback as barometer of where we do well and where we need to do better. Please continue to keep us informed on how you feel. Thanks.
