I just created a new EMBY server today using release 4.0.2.0 and now the Emby app on my TCL TV is going batty. It keeps flashing like it's trying to paint the images but never succeeds. If I scroll down to TV shows or setting, it stops, but if I scroll back up, it starts all over again. I've turned off all settings: backdrops, themes, music, clear art. It's not just mine, also happens to my remote users too. Guessing it's a server thing, but i can't find anything that would cause it???

See the attached vid.

Emby: 4.0.2.0

FreeNAS: 11.2-U3

TCL Roku plugin: 3.0.155

Do you happen to have a USB thumb drive you can plug into the RokuTV. It can use this for both your Roku OTA LiveTV and the Emby Roku app. The Roku OTA LiveTV needs it for your pause buffer. Then you can pause for up to 30 minutes. Bathroom breaks. This gives a small mini-DVR that allows time-shifting for a small window to allow short phone call interruptions, etc.. It also lets the Emby Roku app store more information to cache. With a USB thumb drive the apps get extra space to cache objects. The Roku natively handles this. Roku developers don't even need to. The assets that can be offloaded will be when you use USB thumb. All apps benefit from this. Not only can you then load up to the maximum of 10,000 apps on your Roku (if you want who knows?). You can also benefit from faster app launches and image loading. This is completely up to you.

If you already are using a USB thumb you need to clear the app cache. Delete all Emby Roku apps. Then reboot, do not skip the reboot after delete. This clears the cache and registry. Then reinstall the Emby Roku apps again. This should solve the issue but you have to set up the app all over again. Sometimes this has to be done unfortunately.

Let us know is this isn't the case and it is something broken in our app. We always listen to feedback. If we do something wrong we admit it.

This could also be the lack of the scaling libraries(*nix users suffer from this) to scale your images correctly. How large are your images?

This is undoubtedly the lack of image processing on the server side.

Created a new install of Emby via manual install using the simple 3 command route and now cover art is not working. See log below. I've deleted the xml file, uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted emby, and rebooted freenas.

Emby: 4.0.2.0

FreeNas: 11.2-U3

No thumb drives plugged in. Yes, I have uninstalled and rebooted then reinstalled the Emby app. All was fine until I did the new install of Emby. Also used the send log to developer from the app, when I turn on debugging.

The Second option is to disregard whatever i have written and use the script that still works perfectly fine:

Last tested today on FreeNAS-11.2-U3

Install LATEST STABLE (4.0.2.0)

Hit SHELL on the left side in the Navigation bar in FreeNAS: and type the following (it will do all the things from the previous post)

Type:

cd /tmp
iocage fetch -P dhcp=on vnet=on bpf=yes allow_raw_sockets=1 -n emby-server.json --branch 'master'

@taylorstan i've merged your two topics as it's all the same issue, due to imagemagick not loading. do you have that installed?

You'll need to tell me where to look or how to install. I'm a novice with Emby and Freenas, but savvy enough to get what ya need.
