Got emby up and running, seems good so far.

This only reminds me how much I hate linux (and ubuntu in particular) as I sit watching my freebsd image build from source.

After that I'm hoping to build a shield clone image.

Possibly win-arm too, But that would require no costs to me other than time.

Have you tested HW transcoding with the Nano?

Sounds even a better base for a server than the shield, doesn't it?!

The only codecs enabled for me atm are h264 hvc encoding. (ARM V4L2 H.264) But I haven't upgraded in quite some time as that box is mainly running as an octoprint server until I get freebsd doing the same duties on my pi4.  But, it seems to run as well, if not better than my pc's or shield and has the added benefit of using nfs vs nvidia's broken smb.

Afaik HW transcoding of HEVC is not implemented yet.

Did you test how many concurrent transcodes the nano can run before it begins to struggle?

Nope, none of my clients need to transcode. ^^ that's supposed to be avc, not hvc.
