I think I see the problem. Some server version wiped out the sort titles on all my stuffs. I gotta rescan all my libraries to get this back? @Luke

In absense of sort title it will use sort name. Sort name doesn't disregard "The " at the front only Sort title does. This causes the issue.

Looked around and see this:  https://emby.media/c...pps-except-web/

So if i'm running the latest server beta this problem is actually resolved?

The problem was caused by a server beta and is corrected in the latest server beta - but you must re-save every affected item in the metadata editor.

I dont think i have installed the server beta since i came back to emby.  But my A - Z is definitely FUBAR!  :-)

Suggest I go to the latest beta and then replace all current meta (please not manually)?

Thanks...

If you didn't run the beta server then you aren't seeing the problem caused by the beta server.

Something else may be messing with your sort titles, however.  Do your items have sort titles defined?

Every movie has a sort title.

I verified this by viewing programdata db.  There are also no forced title entries.

My rokus are behaving an awful lot like what was described in that thread...

Sounds like some of the issues is related to this.

Sounds like some of the issues is related to this.

https://emby.media/c...sortname-42067/

My issue is more with the picker # - z

Here are some snips from that thread that seem very close to what i originally reported:

"I tried the web interface for the server and this works.

A - works

B - N (no O) - Jumps to top second line listing

P - V (missing letters) - Jumps to the top third line listing

W - Works

X - Works

Y - Works

Z - Works"

"If I manually move to the movies starting with D and select the P letter, it jumps to the top third line in the listing."

"There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern."

"When ever I use the picker it does not work as expected - If I choose the letter "G" I would expect it to jump to the first "G" in the library.

What I am seeing in my case is it is jumping to some place in "A", no matter the letter I choose using the picker."

So this sounds a lot like what i see on the rokus...  I can select # - Z in any order as much as i want in the web interface / theater / android and xbox

I wasn't sure where this original report stood.  Pretty confident (but i'm slow) that it isnt server related.  But saw that beta fix and hoped that somehow that might resolve my "letter jump to title" issue.

Hoping to put it back on the radar!

Thanks...

I should mention, sitting in front of my tv, that it appears to be only a issue with my music video catagory at this point.

Don't have Music Videos to compare.

Quick look at Music, Album Artists and Artists it would appear there may be a query issues as I have no Album Artists that start with N or O but have Artists that start with N and O.  So the picker should not have N and O for Album Artists.  As noted already the web client has the proper #-Z letters for my library for Album Artist and Artists.

So we're talking about items that have a bunch of odd characters like "[" in their names?  You are running the beta of the Roku app, correct?

Yes this is the beta app...

There may be a rouge character here or there, but i rename all my files to try and prevent this.

No big deal, enjoy the weekend!

I have one "|" that continues to reappear from my AC/DC collection.  But that should have nothing to do with say "N" appearing in Album Artist, while I only have a Artist named Nelly.

Yes beta .157
