Hey Guys,

Quick question really quick.  Does anybody know if I install kodi on fire tv if there is video backdrop support?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I’m not sure what you mean by video backdrop? As in support for theme videos? Or if it’s possible to put the video in background?

Sorry I should have clarified. Yes I meant theme videos specifically from radeons tools and other sources.

I really enjoy the theme videos as part of the experience but emby for fire TV does not support it yet. I was wondering if kodi would be a decent workaround until emby supports them.

Support for theme media is a bit of a question mark at the moment. Maybe someone can chip in.

It’s not that simple. If those themes are in your Emby server, I do have plan to add theme media support directly in the emby for kodi add-on.

Previously, TV tunes was supported (still works for me, but not for most). But since it looks like a dead project, I’m not sure if there’s any add-on to support theme media in Kodi.

FWIW, it looks like "TV Melodies" is the current go-to for Theme Music. ( I think it currently supports Theme Videos too, but could be wrong. )

TV Melodies (play themes alternative)

Will work with Kodi 17, 18 and with 18 python 3.

TV Melodies is a simple addon that plays your theme songs as you browse your library. It is universal and will work no matter which skin you are using.

This one should already work for native playback mode. It uses the locally available paths of your media and if a theme file is placed next to it -> play it.

But a warning for everyone:

Some skins, like Embuary, are using actions after Player.OnStop. Or you will see annoying "now playing" overlays. Or auto-fullscreen switches. And you will have widget reloadings in a lot of skins after each playback. I don't  recommend to use such things.
