Chuck_IV 1
Every time I try to view a TV episode, be it, DVD/Blu-Ray or even 4K, as soon as I touch the play button, the screen goes blank for a second then it drops out of Emby back to iOS. It works fine for Movies, just not TV episodes. I tried uninstalling Emby on iOS and reinstalling it but same thing. The same version works fine on my iphone XS Max. It's just the ipad pro(10.5 inch 2017 version) that has the issue. It's iOS version 1.7.4 and QNAP server version 4.0.2.0. iOS version 12.1.4 I've attached my log file. **UPDATE** This ONLY happens when on wifi. This is a Wifi+Cellular model(unlocked and on Verizon). When I turn off wifi and use the cellular connection, the TV episodes play fine. As soon as I turn Wifi back on, the TV episodes crash immediately upon trying to play any episode(movies work fine no matter the connection). Chuck_IV 1
Hi is, this hevc video? It can be any video type. I have simple DVD rips as MPEG, Blurays as AVC, anything. It's not specific to a video type. As a side note, I CAN play the TV episodes connecting to Emby via a browser. The issue is specific to the iOS app itself. Luke 37029
So the problem is only on your local network?
Chuck_IV 1
Yes, only when on wifi do I have this issues. However, I can't say it's specific to just my network since I have not linked via another wifi network and tried it. Now, my daughter's ipad, which is wifi only, can play TV episodes just fine and doesn't have an issue. Also, I can play TV episodes on my ipad, if I play through safari. I am thinking this has something to do with the fact that my ipad is a wifi AND cellular. I do find it strange that I can stream movies just fine on wifi, it's just the TV episodes that crash Emby. Chuck_IV 1
Ok, figured out what is causing it. I came across this thread from mid last year about THEME MUSIC crashing the ios version when it plays... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/60140-latest-update-crashes-when-playing-tv-series-themes/ So I had one series that did not have theme music and when I tried that, it played fine. So I went to the options and turned off theme music and now everything plays fine. This explains why the movies were playing fine but not TV episodes. Now the interesting part is my daughter's ipad also plays theme music and she has no issues playing episode. Why I have an issue with theme music and she doesn't, I dunno. **EDIT** So if I wait for the theme music to completely finish playing, I CAN play any episode fine. The only time it crashes is if I try to play an episode WHILE the them music is actually playing. Edited March 11, 2019 by Chuck_IV
