The error occurs because the P2000 and P4000 boards cannot encode 10bit H.264 video.

10bit h.264?  does emby encodes to 10bit h.264?

this for 10bit h.265 content?

@softworkz

@Luke

Any word on getting hw decode/encode working again?  Im on beta 4.1.0.15..  My 4k content is beating up my CPU  it used to all transcode just fine...

P4000 supports h.265 8/10/12 bit encode and decode at 4:2:0

Its consuming so much cpu that a dual 10 core (40 logical total) xenon setup is causing other streaming users to freeze up.

Off topic:

Why are you allowing your 4K media to get transcoded?

Can't you provide both a 4K and 1080p version of the files to avoid this like many of us do?

Quality of the 1080p should be better than anything transcoded from 4K and there will be no HDR issues either.

Disk space...   Maybe it doesn't make sense, but i would rather not double or triple all of my media eating more disk space on my raid array. My array is setup for raid 6 so i instantly loose half my storage capacity for redundancy, but i'm ok with that.  I have 16TB of space, so i actually have 32 TB of drives...  A lot of them are    So I figure i can just throw in 1 GPU P4000 and transcode everything on the fly, if it gets busy slap another p4000 in (i have room for 4 GPU's).

Plus having the users pick the version sucks...   Unless emby does that for you based on the speedtest it does when you login?   That would be nice..  Then i would consider it.

Just trying to dumb proof my server for my users......    parents.....   :)

A new beta is coming soon. I'm expecting the situation to be way better with that.

Then we'll try to sort out any remaining issues!

Where is this .16 release?    All I see is .15, just downloaded and re-installed beta.

Never mind, got .16 installed still no working hevc HW transcode even though its supported in the gpu.

Would you be able to post a new transcode log?

Thanks.

no hw transcoding in 4.1.0.16 either; on both Windows 10 and Synology DS918+ (VAAPI actually used to work just fine!)

This is not related to this thread.

Could you please open a new thread, describe the problem and include log files?

Thanks
