Since this upgrade i am unable to use nvidia for encoding. everything is software when transcoding. if i rollback to version 4.1.0.8 everything works.

I have testing server with same version 4.1.0.12 using GeForce GTX 1080 Ti  and it works but main server with p4000 stopped transcoding

@softworkz anything?

interesting results from additional testing. If i download latest ffmpeg and overwrite the one the in system directory the hw transcoding works but with famous green screen same  posted by many users on this forum.

i rolled back to  4.1.0.8 while waiting for solution. meanwhile i will upgrade the drivers.

what's recommended drivers? ODE vs QNF

I can confirm I have the same problem.  Came home today to my system acting like molasses in February and I was software transcoding more than my Xeon could handle hahaha.

Hi, thanks for your patience.

Could any of you please run the command line manually, but add the parameter -loglevel verbose as a first parameter?

Thanks

Could you also confirm that this happens with 10bit videos only?

After testing with divx/xvid, 10bit HEVC, 8bit HEVC, yes it only occurs on 10bit HEVC.

I had to rename the Emby server log as my server is currently in use and I can't shut it down.  But I have also included all the ffmpeg logs of me testing this, and the hardware detection log.

I hope I did this correctly.  If not, I have no problem doing it again.

OK, this is happening because we recently made changes to allow having a full hardware transcoding chain where the data remains in GPU memory between decoding and encoding.

The error occurs because the P2000 and P4000 boards cannot encode 10bit H.264 video.

This is a condition that we need to detect and where we need to fall back to copying data back to cpu memory before encoding.

There will be a fix for this in the next beta.

Thanks for reporting.

Ok but I am using a GTX 1080.  I currently can't test it with 10bit h264 as all my anime is offline (upgrading my file server), but it only occurs in my testing with 10bit HEVC.  8bit HEVC worked perfectly fine, as did regular H264 and divx and xvid.

You've jumped on this thread. The OP said it would work fine with his 1080. This could have other reasons, though.

Anyway, please try with the next beta once it is released (not the one from today).

Just get a regular card and use this patch if you're using windows, or this one if you're using Linux.  Thanks to this, there is no reason for ANYONE to use Quadros anymore.

If you read the page you'd find out.  :)  All information is on the page.  Visit it and that way you know I am not feeding you lies or half truths.  I use it with my 1080 and it works fantastically.  It was someone on here who first posted this information and I called them out on it, and they gave me this link.

sweet. i will test it out on my system with 1080 T1. P4000 gives me better fps than gxt 1081 t1  with hw transcoding and does it with less power so it a big win running 24/7. hopefully they can fix it.
