TV shows "missing"

Hi,

After the upgrade to  4.x, new TV show recordings are showing as "Missing:"  when I look for them on the Roku App or Android apps. They display the little red "missing" banner.  When I look directly on the server's media drive, they are being recorded into multiple folders now.  It tends to have a new folder without  date after it.  Example: "A Million Little Things" and "A Million Little Things (2018)".

It appears that the Apps do not see the recordings in the separate folders, or aren't rescanning? Generally, moving the recording to the dated folder and forcing a re-scan shows them as available but this is a pain because I have to do it after each recording.

Any idea whats going on? I cancelled recordings, deleted the folder, and restarted them, but it seemed to do the same thing regardless. Logs are attached

Pics below.. Sorry they are huge..

The Orville is a prime example.  See how episode 9 is listed as "missing".. It IS recorded, and in the folder.. but its on the folder without a year.  I seem to have this issue with all current recordings.

See how there are now two copies of current shows that are being recorded.  One with a date after, one without: The oens with teh date seemed to exist pre-upgrade.  The ones without the date seem to be post upgrade.  All new recordings are automatically placed in the folders without a date after them.   I initially thought ROKU  wasnt cataloging programs under the folders wihout a date, so I'd move the program to the folders with a date and do a rescan.. Seemed to work, but, again new recordings  would go under the folder without a year and not show up.  In the case of the Orville.. Its a little wierd. See how it shows some in the folder, but not the latest. It's almost like on this one, eventually it detected a previous recording.

Yes, multiple times..  I just ran it now as well.  Saturday Night Live was recorded last night.  This time, it was placed in the "Saturday Night Live (1975)" folder on its own, but it's stillshowing at "missing" on the clients... eg. they can't play or view it.  It is recorded on the server though

Proof of scan. just ran it, relaunched client, and it's still showing as "missing"

Have you run a full library scan?

I just manually ran a library scan. Still doesn't show the SNL episode recorded lastnight.  Log attached here.  I will note the manual scans complete much faster on this version of Emby, compared to the previous versions that didnt have this issue.  Not sure if that means anything though?

Thanks

Saturday Night Live recorded lastnight to the server, but was showing as "missing" this morning in the client apps..

1. It was recorded to folder labeled "Saturday Night Live (1975)"

2. I did a manual re-scan and it was still listed as "missing" in client app

3. I copied the video files to the "Saturday Night Live" folder that didnt have a date "Saturday Night Live".

4. I did another  re-scan

5. now SNL episode 14 was shown as recorded and available on the clients.

in some cases, it has been the reverse. Other shows recorded to the folder without the year, and when I copied them to the one with the year, and re-scanned, it made the video appear.

After copying the folder from "Saturday Night Live (1976)" to "Saturday Night Live" and doing the manual scan again, it shows in the client.  When you click the video, it now gives you both as options and requires you to choose it.

Ok, as a test, please try this. Please move the orville series folder out of your library altogether so that it is gone. then run a full library scan to get it cleared out of the database. Then try adding it back. Please let me know if that corrects it for that one series. thanks.

OK. ,

1. I cut both Orville folders, both with and without year after

2. did a rescan

3. pasted them both back (with a year and without)

4. ran a rescan

5. checked in ROKU and all the episodes are showing

Will wait till Thursday to see if it records and displays properly.in client apps

thanks.

The episode of the Orville from tonight is still showing as missing. Moving folder and rescanning didn't work.

@@Luke,

No, it's listed as "missing" in the Roku app. It also isn't shown in the Android app. I haven't tried the web app because I don't use that one. Will try and report back

I also just did a manual rescan after chexcking to see that is was showing as "missing" (Orville did record and is in the folder that does not have the year after it).  It still shows as missing after the rescan.  Seems like the only way to get it to show as recorded is to physically move the file and then do a rescan.

Hi.  Did you run a full library scan after it was added?

Also shows as missing in the web app as well. Yes

Well this looks correct to me, no? #10 looks like what a missing episode would look like. So it's really more of a question of where is your new recording.

Isn't this a issue of files being in different locations?  I don't do Recordings, so are Recording and TV Library are separate?  Since there is discussion of Series folders with "years" and without.  Is this suppose to be a "Merge" situation?

I have tv shows scheduled to record. They are saving to a "tv" folder in my media drive. Before the upgrade to 4.x when it recorded a show, it followed a naming convention where it added a year at the end of the show and placed the recording in that folder. There was no input on my end. This is just how it recorded. The year was generally when the series originally began. Eg..You may have "Macgyver (1985), and Macgyver (2017). After the upgrade, it abandoned the naming convention and it now records to a folder without a year after it(sometimes). In essence I now have two folders of recordings for each show. One with the year and one without. (At least seemingly in most cases). When you try to play back a new recording, it's just listed as "missing." A rescan doesn't fix it. I have to get on the server, move the files via copy and paste, then rescan again, and they can be viewed. It's terribly annoying. Wife does not have access to do this so most of her shows are "missing" until I do it. I don't know if merge doesn't work right, or emby isn't able to scan, or doesn't see the new additions. I also don't understand why it started the new folder naming convention after the upgrade, or if there is a way to force it back to recording in dated folders. I tried to delete all recordings for a show and just create a new recording, and let it create a new folder, but it seems like it still lists them as missing.

An example is "good girls". This appears to be a show my wife recently decided to record. It's a new recording. It has two folders emby created on it's own.. "good girls" and "good girls (2018)". The folder without a year was created Sunday March 10th. The folder with a year was created March 31st. Yesterday it recorded on the 2018 folder, and emby lists that recording as "missing" so she can't watch it. Previous to yesterday it recorded in the folder without a year and those episodes are available for viewing. Sometimes it's the opposite. It records into the one without the year, and I have to move them to the one with a year. I have no idea why it does this, or how it can flip flop between folders like that. I also don't get why it doesn't scan the folders and note the new recordings. Its been quite a bit since I reported it, so im really hoping it's fixed soon.

We do still put the year at the end of the folder name, when we have that information available at least.
