JaScoMa 33
Recently purchased a RockPRro64 and it arrived today. Ran DietPI benchmarks on both SBC's to compare the two. Both are running the latest version of DietPI, but the RockPro64 is running the 64-bit version (aarch64). Raspberry PI 3b Plus (32gb Class 10 SD, 1GB Ram and armv7) Benchmarks completed: - CPU Performance : Duration = 24.67 seconds (lower is faster) - CPU Temp : Idle = 60'c | Full load = 68'c - RootFS : Write = 13 MB/s | Read = 20 MB/s - RAM : Write = 435 MB/s | Read = 253 MB/s Filesystem Benchmark Results: - Filepath = /benchmark.file - Test size = 100 MB - WRITE = 10 MB/s - READ = 22 MB/s RockPro64 (32gb eMMC, 4gb RAM and aarch64): Benchmarks completed: - CPU Performance : Duration = 8.43 seconds (lower is faster) - CPU Temp : Idle = 36'c | Full load = 51'c - RootFS : Write = 65 MB/s | Read = 91 MB/s - RAM : Write = 890 MB/s | Read = 552 MB/s Filesystem Benchmark Results: - Filepath = /benchmark.file - Test size = 100 MB - WRITE = 87 MB/s - READ = 107 MB/s Obviously, Emby is very much more responsive on the RockPro64 than the PI3b+. Was able to get everything installed and libraries added and scanned in less than an hour and a half.Since H.265 and MKV playback isn't possible with the PI3b+, will run some tests on the RockPro64 to see if this will allow for it.Will update accordingly. JaScoMa 33
Futher Testing: Raw MKV: File will play, but it spikes all six cores to 100% and will play about 3-5 seconds and then buffer, then 3-5 seconds, etc. Unplayable. Locked up the device and it needed to be hard-reset; un-plugged.H.265 10-bit Encoded (DTS-HD MA 7.1 Auto-Passthrough): Files play great and look great. When you first start the playing of the file, one of the cores spikes at 100% CPU usage for 15-30 seconds, but then quiets down to almost nothing to 8% usage. See screenshot. Next up for testing, have 3 Roku devices and will stream to all three at once with different movies and see how it handles this.
JaScoMa 33
Was able to get four streams running without any issues. The web interface was a tad bit slower in responsiveness, but nothing to complain about at all. One stream was running through the Opera browser, the other three through Roku's. All four streams were wirelessly connected; three Roku's and laptop connected wirelessly. Probably could run a few more streams without any issues. Only one core occasionally spikes to 100% while all four were playing. Below is a breakout of how the movies were encoded.
