I am able to get the test email notifications but I do not receive the emails when new content is added, a user starts watching, or any other setting.  I only receive the test emails.

I'm not sure at this point. There's obviously not a widespread problem so this might be host-specific. Can you please attach the complete log file? Thanks.

Hi Luke,

I configured the app like the added screenshot show. I tried all variants of the both security checkboxes without success. Those settings should be work because I use the in my smart home setting, too.

my edit process:

1 edit setting

2 save

3 leave plug in

4 recall plug in

5 trigger test mail

I tried with skipping step 3 & 4, too.

thx

Have you set the Notification to actually use the email method ?

ie Advanced > Notifications > User > Video Playback Started > 'Enable Notification' for Users as Required > Sent Notification to 'Admins etc' using > Email Notifications

Only then will it send notifications for playback (as an example).

If your test Notification is working, then you are good to go once you have setup the Notification criteria above.

Yes, I did. Nothing else, independently from this setting should the test mail sender, shouldn’t it.

I'm replying to the OP  ;)

If your test email is not working, then you have a different problem from the OP (and you should probably start your own thread ..) but it is likely related to your settings and/or your ISP - until your test email works, then nothing is going to work.

@@K1ng_Lear - Just on this - have you tried setting the 'send from' address the same as your 'send to' address - as you may not have SMTP permissions to use other names other than your own email address.  ie keep them all as 'Michael@'.  It's also worth trying port TCP 587 for SSL as the SSL handshake on your email service may not be fully compliant with TCP 465.

Yes, I have it set that way.  When I do a test it works with no problem.  The issue is when I add multiple movies not all the notifications go out to all users.  Example, I add 4 movies and sends notifications to 5 users.  Some users might get 1 notification while others might get more and not for the same movie either.  weird.

It could be anti-spam settings on the SMTP server - ie it thinks you are spamming it if you send too many emails in a set period and thus drops them.  Set it to just a couple of people and ramp up until it starts dropping them - if it's consistent, then I suspect that is your problem.

Maybe request a delay be added to the plugin - as this would solve the problem, even a 1 second delay between the sends should be sufficient.

So have you tried the official IANA SMTPS port - TCP 587 ?

Emby's SMTP SSL negotiation may be different to your smart home - your mail provider will likely accept both (as well as TCP 25, which is something else to try to at least get the unencrypted basics working) ...

This is weird, but it solved my problem. 587 works. The port I set is the official one from my provider and always worked until now.

so thanks for help.
