Not sure if I should create a new topic or just jump into this one, but I'm having the exact same issue.

And it all started when i updated to 3.4.

Running Ubuntu 17.10 headless.

Not sure what log to post (or even how) though.

You can learn how here:

Thanks.

It tells you how to get a log from the web interface. You can post here. Thanks.

Sorry, must have missed that part.

But I found a bunch of logs. Mostly transcoding logs so I skipped those, but here they are.

Thanks again for taking the time to look this over.

These look fine to me. Are you sure these are the ones from the time frame in which you experienced a problem?

I'm unsure if it's the right log. I just picked the first one in the list.

It's weird, because when the server is freshly started it runs smoothly and fast, but I can't see any movies when I want the entire list.

Only the home page and server dashboard works, although I can still play the videos when I click on them on the home screen.

But after a few minutes it almost slows down to a halt.

I can let it keep running for a few hours and post the logs again.

If all else fails, is there a way to downgrade/download the previous version again and see if the problem still persists?

EDIT: I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I just noticed that Kodi fails to connect to the server. It just times out.

To echo testbug, playback is never an issue.

The webui and even in the app is just seeing metadata slow to load. I can click on a movie and it can take upwards of 20-30 seconds for all the pictures of the cast to show up and even see the information about the movie. They are like trickling in. I know its not my network so I can rule that out.

It's just weird.

It just stopped.

It happened now again, but this time I got the error "Process is terminating due to StackOverflowException." in the terminal.

I don't know if you've given up on us Luke, but I'm gonna attach a bunch of logs here, in hope that you might find something, if you have the time.

I don't know what else to do right now.

Lo and behold! I managed to get it working!

It was in fact a movie that messed it all up for some reason.

If there's any info I can provide, just let me know!

I unplugged my external hard drive, and it just worked. I think it may be starting to fail on me.

So is it a movie file or the hard drive? I'm confused... I cant really just unplug one of my drives as I have 6 in my storage pool

Try removing them from your library one by one.
I think it was just one movie, but I'm unsure. I might have been lucky.

Okay, I'm giving up. It stopped working again.

I even tried reinstalling the server, but to no avail.

Is there a link for the previous version I can download?

EDIT: Found it. And everything is back to normal. Guess I'll just have to wait for the next release and hope whatever problems I have will go away.

This is just weird. I went as far as reinstalling my entire server (the main point of it was emby), and the problem still persists.

I'm attaching the logs, but whatever will I had to try to solve this is now gone.

Thank you Luke for trying at least.

I'm actually asking testbug about his crashes. I think your thread has been hijacked :)

Thats fine but this is still crippling...  I go to my dashboard and it literally just hangs. And then when I finally refresh the page and it comes up I see things like the following: which is just really weird.
