Anyway to install v. 4.0.1.0 on a QTS 4.2.6

Hi there,

I read in the following posts that there is a problem with installing server version 4.0.1.0 because it requires a 64 bit QTS.

I am running QTS 4.2.6 which is a 32 bit and therefore after installing the latest emby server the following error:

Is there a way to install this server without updating to a 64 bit QTS. There are many QNAP NASs that are powerful enough for an EMBY server but have an E.O.L. QTS of 4.2.6 which is 32bit.

I have no problem installing server version 3.4.0.0 but would love to take advantage of the new Emby server's Life TV.

Thanks

O2G

Hi, unfortunately there is no .net core runtime for 32-bit linux so that is why we do not have a QNAP package for it. It does look like they are working on it:

https://github.com/dotnet/coreclr/issues/9265

So if/when it becomes officially supported for it, then it will be very easy for us to have a QNAP package for your device. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I have the 4.0.1.0 server version installed on my Win 7 PC and the Roku client especially with the EPG page is absolutely stunning and I would like to repeat this on my QNAP TS-253 pro. It is running perfectly now with all the vital other programs running without a problem. I know if I update this to a 64 bit QTS, which I could, I will break some of the other installations that are more important, I have researched this plus I need some updated programs.

So I will wait until there is a release. There are many, many other QNAP NASs that are in this same situation as I am, hopefully someone will pick up the necessary code changes. From the date in GitHub though it looks like that this may be quite some time, what do you think @@Luke.

It's hard to say at this point. There is recent activity in the discussion, however the ticket is not assigned to the upcoming .net core 3.0 release in March. It is assigned to their future bucket. I think this could go either way. MS is putting in a lot of effort to accommodate developers, so that is good. But for something like this, with the audience for it shrinking with each passing day, there is a chance the ticket could just remain open indefinitely.

Just sorted my QNAP situation and bought a new QNAP NAS TS-253Be and am running QTA 4.3.6.* Decided to keep my setup because it is running flawless for what I want it to do and replaced a 10 year old QNAP NAS with a new one and will now run Emby on that one. The speed difference is enormous so quite happy with it as all my other apps are installed and working now on to setting up Emby on the TS-253Be.

Installed version 4.0.2,0 and works just fine. However on the Roku client it wants landscape posters like thumb views 600 wide by 338 pixels high, but for other clients you need normal posters like 600 high by 400 wide. Is there a way to correct this because if you use straight posters then on the Roku they look squashed, if you use Thumbs then they also look distorted on a client that wants posters like plain vanilla browser plug in.

@@Luke Are there settings or trickery that solves that?

Can you open a topic in the Roku section? Thanks.

I got this solved by uploading thumb view pictures and then changing the view image from primary to thumb. Now it shows the thumb picture in both the Roku client (Which wanted a thumb view format) and the Web App (which wanted a poster type image format) now that the image format view has changed to thumb, it displays now correctly. It never felt that this was really a bug but more like a setting and the correct image selection adjustment.
