johnhb 7
Hello, Could someone possibly confirm/deny whether gapless, bit perfect flac will ever be possible from Media Browser Theatre? I like the look of MB3 and where the theatre UI is headed, but this is a deal breaker for me. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell the answer is no, because... (1) Use of LAV filters for FLAC decoding precludes gapless? Or at least that's my experience using them for WMC (2) Use of DirectShow audio drivers (?) means (in Win 8 at least) the audio is subjected to Microsoft's limiter function (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/matthew_van_eerde/archive/2011/05/11/linearity-of-windows-volume-apis-iaudiometerinformation-and-full-scale-signals.aspx) What I am hoping is I am wrong with regards to (1) - which is impossible to confirm at the mo, because pressing playing on an audio track only plays one track :-) (2) - will there ever be the possibility of WASAPI exclusive mode (or indeed is that possible now?)? Solution Aphid 212 Posted May 2, 2014 Solution Share Posted May 2, 2014 There is some work on WASAPI going on right now. As for gapless, it is possible with direct show, but it will take some work to get it chaining one stream correctly onto another after decoding each. It is possible that we may need to use another playback engine for audio. However, this is something I really want myself, so I'll be sure that we eventually have it. There is a lot of higher priority work that needs to be done first, not least among those the ability to actually browse your music collection and enqueue more than one song
johnhb 7
Thanks Aphid. It's great just to hear this is on the radar. ASIO capability might be nice if you're looking at a completely new solution. Yes, it would be good to be able to browse and play stuff in a music library too lol Off topic, but just on the UI dev side of things - as a relative newcomer to MB it seems a bit of an overhead to have slightly different approaches for the theatre app and modern app? Appreciate the coding architecture is different, but wouldn't it be more efficient to have common functionality and layouts etc? ...I guess I will have to stick to XBMC for now, but very excited about the future of MBT! Helios61 0
Hi, does dev team made some progress with development of WASAPI, gapless playback and playback of HiRes Audio files (multichannel)? Best regards Helios

pclausen 41
+2 Also, is Emby able to deal with large collections, say half a million tracks? I'm currently using JRiver MediaCenter but would love to one day do all my media through a single "eco system".
