Braincrash 0
Hello, I wanted to update to the new version, but in the options menue there ist the note, that I still have the latest version of emby (3.5.2.0 instead of 4.xxx). So I downloaded the latest qpkg-file from your downloadpage and installed it via the appcenter. Instead of an update, I have a second app now on my sytem without any parameters. How can I upgrade from 3.5.2.0 to a newer one? It is a QNAP 670 Pro Firmware is:4.3.6.0805 (latest) CPU: x86 Thanks for your help! Guido
Luke 36881
Hi there, what exactly did you install? We don't have a download for x86 QNAP at this time. Thanks.
Braincrash 0
Hi, I downloaded this version: emby-server-qnap_4.0.1.0_x86_64.qpkg from this side: https://emby.media/nas-server.html
Luke 36881
How did you install 3.5.2 before? Was that via QNAP club or our website?
Braincrash 0
Hello Luke, I installed Emby with QMono Framework and the 3.5.2. QPKG (wich I got from the QNAP forum). Guido
Luke 36881
Ok, unfortunately they are two different packages and use different data directories on the QNAP, that is why this is happening. Are you open to a fresh install?
Braincrash 0
Ah okay I understand :-/ yes I am also open for a new Installation. Is there a way to keep the database? It took a lot to edit the moviedatabase and collections.
Luke 36881
You can migrate those by following this process: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Collections-%E2%80%93-Manual-Migration Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
Braincrash 0
Good Morning, thank you for your reply. I am not sure if I am right, but I installed Emby on my QNAP NNA, so I thought the pathes are there too, not on my PC. Further I can not find the pathes on my PC as it's described in the github manual
Luke 36881
Hi there @@Braincrash, you do not need to do anything with Github. Please just follow the instructions on our website: https://emby.media/download.html Please let me know if this helps. Thanks.
Braincrash 0
When I install the QPKG-File from your website it works as a parallel installation to the one I have already installed
Luke 36881
I apologize, it's because the older QNAP community package was built by someone else.
Braincrash 0
Okay, I can install the new QPKG package as a second installation, but how can I transfere the old database and settings to version 4.xxx?
Luke 36881
Please check out our backup guide here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Backup Thanks.
Braincrash 0
I did a backup now, with the plugin and restored the old database on the new istallation. Unfortunately it did not copy the box sets. I tryed also to use the box set plugin, but the collection-library is still empty
Luke 36881
Collections do not get copied, but we have a wiki article on how to do them manually: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Collections-%E2%80%93-Manual-Migration Thanks. Braincrash 0
I don't have a Windows installation. I found two folders on my NAS system. "Emby" and "EmbyServer". For "emby" I do not get access. For "EmbyServer" I have access but the pathes are completely different to your github article. These are the new installation pathes: the old pathes are empty now (this was the working installation) the path "/root/.qpkg/embyserver/programdata/metadata" contains two subfolders, with names "library" and "views". "library" itself contains a lot of weired subfolders. I can not find any folder called "collections"
Luke 36881
Is there a problem? The paths will be different on every platform, this is normal. The screenshots are just examples of one particular platform.
Braincrash 0
The screenshots shows different results on my NAS. The old installation (3.5.2.0) pathes are empty now. The new one shows the pathes with the 4.0.1.0 installation. Under the "metadata-folder" (on my NAS) is no subfolder called "collections". So where can I find it? PenkethBoy 2063
collections are under ../programdata/data
Braincrash 0
Thank you PenkethBoy, the folder is (was) emtpy. After I made a new collection it appeared a folder with "collections" and an subfolder of the new collection. That means the collection of the older version of emby are lost :-(
PenkethBoy 2063
Not necessarily if you have not uninstalled the 3.5 version they will still be under the install path for 3.5 emby the upgrade does not "move" stuff to new locations like collections - you need to do that if you go up a couple of directories from programdata you should see both emby install dirs IIRC 3.5 was emby-server and v4 is embyserver both will be in the /share/cachedev1_data/.qpkg or similar depending on how you have you QNAP setup - with regard to cachedev1_data so from there you can find your old collections and copy/move then to the new collections dir - then rescan your libraries so emby can find them etc Then they should appear - assuming no paths to your media have changed for the items in your collections
Braincrash 0
Hi, thanks so far! I have two folder. "EmbyServer" and "Emby". I think Emby is the folder of the old installation. It is weired but I don't have permission to this folder. Only to the new one (EmbyServer"). Acutally I have permission to all of the other folders in the .qpkg path. I am using the FileStation5 for access.
PenkethBoy 2063
I think you will need to use something like Putty/WinSCP to access your NAS via a ssh session to get access - using the QNAP admin user account you can find how to do that on the QNAP forums - if you dont know how etc Then you should have access to all folders - Warning - be careful what you do as deleting the wrong thing could cause all sorts of problems But copying your Collections across to the new location should be safe enough
Braincrash 0
:D :D :D Thank you for your help! It works. So I think I can backup my data (also the libraries) this way instead of the plugin.
