Hi.

For some time I am helping translating every client app into german. But I cant see changes in the apps? I was hoping that with version 1.40 the updated strings get into the app, but I cant see it.

What is not translated you ask? ;)

For example the top bar with "suggestions..." and the movie info screen with "play/resume", "starts at", "ends at" ....

There are 2 german translations. 1 is 100% translated and the other one is not worked on anymore I think. Maybe the second one should be deleted.

There are actually three.  The way the translation system works, it can be different for different regions.

The only one that is 100% is the one for Germany itself.  In order for you to see this translation, your device has to be set to a language of German and a region of Germany.  Otherwise, it will fall back to the generic German translation (the one very minimally translated).

Ok, I have to look if I can specify a german country in ATV4k.

I think there should just be the Translation "Deutsch". It should be more than enough for all german speaking countries. Maybe you could rename "Deutsch (Deutschland)" to "Deutsch" and delete the other ones. This one should be the fallback option, too.

EDIT:

My ATV4k is already set to "Germany" region "Germany". There is nothing I can do anymore I think.

I see that you have changed  "Deutsch (Deutschland)" to "Deutsch". Thank you  :)

But how can I enable this translation inside Emby?

Hi.  We didn't make any changes.  There has always been the generic fallback.  I don't think you can select it as the app is going to look at both your language and region settings on the device and, unfortunately, the specific region for Germany is not fully translated.

The solution will be to get that full translation on the OneSky site.

Thanks.

I think I dont understand you

You said that I have to change my language and region to Germany. I did this on my ATV4k. But the translation is missing.

Because there is no "Deutsch (Deutschland)" translation in OneSky you said that emby should now automatically use the fully translated fallback translation "Deutsch". But that is not happening.

Where is the problem to copy the whole translation in "Deutsch" and create a new one called "Deutsch (Deutschland)"?

We'll have to check on this...  Thanks.

Yes, the issue is that the app is NOT using the region specific translation.  So, we need to get a better generic translation for German.

Thanks.

Ok, but wouldnt it be possible to "copy" all translated strings to the generic translation?

Or do we we really have to translate this from scratch?

The problem is we can't do this automatically because Onesky will automatically fall back to English when text is not available. Someone is going to have to manually copy the strings from one set to another.

Is there already an estimated release date for a new client version with the new translation?  :)
