Not a smooth transition - need some help

Very frustrated with the server upgrade because none of my devices seem to be able access my content consistently (if at all). Accessing emby through wmc (windows 7) seems to fail on all fronts - I can login and my folders load, but when I click into them they are empty. Accessing through any app is hit or (mostly) miss in terms of actually having content available. This has been going on for over a week now and I am too busy with other things to spend a lot of time troubleshooting this and am hoping there is a quick fix for this. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, we're sorry to hear about this. Can you go over an example of something not loading? Does the web app load normally?

Okay after spending a little more time trying to figure out the pattern here, it seems like any time I restart the machine that is running Emby server, it tries to go through the whole upgrade process again and reload my database. When I first turn the computer on, I get a message that the server is unavailable due to an upgrade and to check back in a couple of minutes. Usually this takes 10-20 minutes and then I can load Emby on different devices, but no content shows up. I have to wait until the next day or even the day after that before I can actually access any of my media. Can you tell me why this is happening and how to prevent it?

I had strange problems like this before while setting up emby server.  Are you running setup from an admin account, or did you setup emby server on a separate admin account, and your using a different account to update it?  That was part of my problem if I remember correctly

I am running it from an admin account that is the same one I've always run it from so I don't think it's the same problem unless I'm misunderstanding.

Someone else will have to comment but that 24 hour log appears to be almost nothing but livetv metadata removal.

Sometimes when I try to access my content, whether from wmc, the fire TV app, the Android app, etc, nothing loads. When I check the server dashboard, it says it is refreshing my library. I don't understand why this is happening so often or why it takes so long. Additionally, I don't understand why my entire library seems to be inaccessible during this time.

It should be captured in the log I already posted as it continues to happen. My folder structure for one of my folders is also very inaccurate - folders show up as movies and nothing inside any of those folders is accessible. I had metadata retrieval turned off for that folder yet that was ignored during the upgrade and now the entire folder is a mess as a result. I don't have the kind of time I used to to dedicate to troubleshooting and cleaning this up so as much as I love Emby (and have been using it since it was Video Browser), it may be time for me to say goodbye if you guys can't help me get this resolved. The most frustrating part of all this is that I didn't change anything - you forced the software into an upgrade that it clearly wasn't ready for and now I am left to figure it out and I think the easier thing for me to do may just be to move to Plex or something else.

This worked for a few days and now it's unusable again. Wmc doesn't load anything. I go to the server dashboard and it says it's loading...again. Restart the computer and the server is unreachable for 20 minutes. Then it comes back up and still can't load anything through wmc. I can load through the android app but casting doesn't even work. So much for having friends over and enjoying a movie - what a disaster. You guys ruined a good product. So sad.

tp546, your issue is actually with the server, correct?  It acts like it is going through the upgrade process repeatedly?
