Migrating from Windows to Synology, dont want to loose all user data

We have an Emby server running on windows and its working well! Thanks !!

We recently purchased a Synology NAS since our Media was on a number of USB drives on the Windows machine and we have had some failures.

We have used the backup plugin to export the emby backup and restore it on the Emby on Synology BUT the watch data is gone.

We have lost quite a bit of the history, the next up, the already watched etc.

The server was created by my wife and during the migration, she also combined the TV shows A-m n-z folders into one folder.  Im not sure if that also broke some of the history or not ...

I was hoping some helpful soul could point us to the correct steps for migrating Emby to Synology and retaining the History.

We did find a thread here that talked about copying the metadata folder which was huge and we did that ... We are now letting the Synology Emby rescan to see if it will "find" the missing or unlinked data ..

Be Gentle this is my first post here

Thanks in advance

Doug

Yes that article plus the article about how to manually move the Metadata from windows to Synology got us there

After a lengthy rescan of all the libraries

It would be helpful for the next guy to list that the backup plugin appears to ignore all the previously played history etc for the uers ...

This is not necessarily true. Why do you feel that this is the case?

When we restored the configuration from the windows emby to the Synology emby

It moved the users and the server settings but none of the previously watched data was visible.

The thumbnails for all the media were gone and the next up data for example seemed gone.

It may be that it was all waiting on us to do a library rescan but we read in a thread here where you told a user that migrating using the backup AND the metadata folder was the correct process ...

Ill try to find that thread ...
