gestep48 1
On the dashboard, I received a Check for plugin updates failed. I only have the plugins that came with the downloaded copy of Emby. I looked at all of the plugins that came with Emby and reinstalled each one. Is there a way I can see which plugin(s) failed? Is there a way I can trigger an update manually? I am using version 4.0.1.0. Windows server 2016 Essentials. Emby is running as a service. Thanks. Gene
Luke 37060
Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log? You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks !

Luke 37060
It looks like outgoing http requests are failing to a variety of domains. Not just ours but metadata providers as well. Do you have security settings on the machine that might be causing this? That's what it looks like to me. Thanks.
Happy2Play 8281
It appears you are running Emby as a Service. Does the same thing happen it you stopped the service and launched the application? Edited January 25, 2019 by Happy2Play

Do you have security settings on the machine that might be causing this? That's what it looks like to me. Thanks. I have a pretty vanilla setup as far as the Window 2016 server goes. I haven't set up any special firewall rules or anything like that. Can you give me a couple of specific sites that are failing? I'd like to see if I can reach them outside of Emby. gestep48 1
It appears you are running Emby as a Service. Does the same thing happen it you stopped the service and launched the application? I'll give that a try later this evening. If I do that, can you tell me how I can trigger Emby to go out and look for updates? I am assuming that it does it at some pre-determined time (like every 12 hours, 24 hours, etc) and I'd like to see if I do stop the service and run Emby, that I don't have to wait a day or whatever time Emby decides to go out and check for updates. Thanks! Gene
Happy2Play 8281
On Start-up the task will run automatically. Otherwise you would have to click the API link at the bottom of the dashboard, then ScheduledTaskService in Swagger, then select /ScheduledTasks/Running/{Id} and enter this id "c27fda37dfb6e39be141191aaa1c3060". gestep48 1
Seems like it is easiest to just restart the server if that is a trigger. So instead, when I clicked on API, i received the attached error message. My server is located at 192.168.1.2.
gestep48 1
A little more info: At the bottom of the dashboard, if I click on Emby, Community or Github, they all work. It is when I click on API that I receive an error If I then click on the ERROR {...}, I see: {"schemaValidationMessages":[{"level":"error","message":"Can't read from file http://192.168.1.2:8096/emby/openapi"}]} If I then put http://192.168.1.2:8096/emby/openapi in my browser, I then see a file that begins with: { "openapi": "3.0.1", I didn't copy the contents of the entire file here as it is pretty large, but I did put the first URL in my browser: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/47-developer-api and was taken to that page. Don't know if any of this helps, but if there is something else that is needed, please let me know. Gene
gestep48 1
Again, not sure if it helps, but I set up a second test server running Emby 4.0.1.0 running on Windows 10. No link to movies, music, etc. - just a test machine. When I click on Api at the bottom of the dashboard, I do not receive any error messages. Emby is not running as a service. Okay, I have been using 2 ways to connect to my server. Locally, I have been using http://192.168.1.2:8096/web/index.html#!/dashboard.html.It would take me directly to the dashboard without having to sign in. If I try the API, I get the error that I listed in one of my messages below. If I sign in locally with https://xxxxxxxxx.net:8920/web/index.html#!/dashboard.html,I am forced to sign on and once I have, I can hit the API at the bottom of the page and do not get the error. So maybe I need to be signed on not to get that particular error?? (see attached API results) Anyway, I still see the attached error on the dashboard. At this point, I am NOT running Emby as a service as was earlier suggested. Edited January 26, 2019 by gestep48

Luke 37060
Can you check windows firewall to see if any rules have been created that are blocking the server? thanks.
gestep48 1
I haven't created any rules for the firewall. I don't do anything with it the except if I am installing a program, if I am asked to allow access when it is being installed, I say yes. Since I don't really have any familiarity with firewalls, what do I need to look for? If needed, I could do screen shots of what is there that relates to Emby. ebr 14910
Look for any rules related to embyserver.exe that are blocking/disallowing traffic.
CBers 6771
Turn your firewall(s) off and see if that works. If it does, you know something in the firewall is blocking access. Don't forget to turn your firewall(s) back on.
gestep48 1
I did turn the firewall off and still received the error (yes, I did remember to turn it back on ). In looking at the windows firewall on the server, I did a couple of screen shots to see if there is anything that stands out to anyone. I will be out of state for a couple of days (driving from sunny Florida to cold, snowy Michigan) but my Emby server will be up and I will be checking in from time to time. Hopefully, someone will figure out I am having an issue with plugins. I will say that one plugin was updated yesterday but you can still see from the attachments that there are still failures. Thanks.
Luke 37060
Turning windows firewall off can often cause even more problems. It is best to just keep it on and look for rules as suggested above. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
ebr 14910
It looks like you successfully updated a plug-in yesterday. Perhaps it was just a temporary network issue.
gestep48 1
So, I did have a successful plugin update on 2/4/19 (OMDb). On 2/6/19, I received the Check for plugin updates failed notice. Is there any way to see which update(s) is/are failing?
