Playback Error....no path under metadata

After trying to troubleshoot why some of my video files wouldn't play I found that the path seems missing. Using the metadata manager to breeze through which are missing I found 7 out of 9 didn't have a pathway. The two that do have a path played fine. In fact the path field is missing for the 7 files that don't play...so I can't even manually change it. The title field is correct though.

This occurred with 4.02 and 4.10,  I've tried removing them, replace metadata, then add them back with a new name, scan again, and the problem still persist.

Another problem is Zombie entries...files removed but still have entries.

I'm experiencing the same thing.  I added a downloaded YouTube video to my Music Video library and it's created an entry without a Path field.    I'm also unable to delete this entry from any area within EMBY, so stuck with an orphan entry.  There isn't a 'DELETE MEDIA' option for this entry without a PATH field.

Running 4.0.1.0

This isn't a media play issue, it's a EMBY creating incomplete meta data issue.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a  problem. Thanks.

%appdata%\Emby-Server\logs doesn't seem to be a valid path anymore, form that above report problem guide.

Not sure what else to post, I placed a file call "Lady Gaga - Always Remember Us This Way.mp4" in my Music Video library folder.   EMBY created metadata for this file, though it matched it to an incorrect IMVDb Id: and created data for "Born this way".   I can screenshot that entry in meta data manager if that'll help?

I've deleted that file, so have no .nfo data to supply.  I've run a media refresh on the library.  I've tried the meta data manager and can find the entry, but cannot remove or do anything with it.

What information would be helpful?

Can you please attach the emby server and ffmpeg log (if there was one). Instructions on how to do that are in the link I gave you. You can obtain log files directly from your Emby Server dashboard. Instructions on how to do that are again, in the link I provided. Thanks.

Before I do that, what is the method of cleaning up the current invalid entry without a delete media option?

This appears to be the entry for when EMBY processed the file.  There isn't a FFMPEG log, as there isn't a path for it to find the file.  So it doesn't attempt to play the file directly.

Kinda fixed it.

1. Copied the folder with new name

2. Removed the old one

3. Run scan "Replace all metadata" under libraries.

Same album but now all 9 have a path.

did you by any chance use the 3.6 or 4.0 beta at some point and then roll back to 3.5 stable?

I went from 3.5 to 4.02 to 4.10, the problem only occurred starting with 4.02, I upgraded to 4.10 in hopes to fix it. Since I know what the issue is now I'll be able to watch out for it.

Also using 4.10 and "replace all metadata" fixed the zombie entries.

@Rumbaar  Were you able to correct your missing metadata play path behavior?

I just added a music video (been a while) and have experienced the same issue as you on server Version 4.1.1.0.

Try removing the library run Emby, running a full scan to clear the database, and then adding it back. Please see if that helps. Thanks.

I followed your suggestion but emby still didn't add the metadata path to play the newly added video.

Sadly...now the entire Music Video library exhibits this same behavior.

I left the library settings at the defaults not using the Music Video metadata downloaders but added Nfo and Save artwork to folders.

I rescanned the Music Video library, replacing all the metadata.  This added back to play to link paths to all but the latest video that was added again.

Is their a editable file on the server DB that the location can be added, or will the current behavior just overwrite the path correction on the next library scan.

Thanks for trying that out. I'm still trying to hunt down why this is happening.

I added 2 more new music videos testing emby today, the path omission error persists.
