Hi, I cloned one of my music library from v3.5.3.0 to v4.1.0.2 and found most of them could not be recognize. The cover photo will be downloaded and album should be recognized by musicbrainz on v3.5.3.0

This is the screen capture from v3.5.3.0

v4.1.0.2

I have done a full library scan and tried "Refresh Metadata" several time.

I found that on v4.1.0.2, it will try to query this way which will return no results.

but If I change the artist name to Japanese and will get the result.

This is weird as it working on v3.5.3.0

Hi, I just want to let's people who have tried v4.1.0.4 know that the issue I mention is still.

And I found when the new album added to the folder, on v3.5.3.0. Emby will try identify the album in arid (instead of v4.1+ identify album by Artist name)

This is the piece of log from v3.5.3.0

But if the album is called Endless Sorrow isn't that the right thing to be querying on?

Thanks for your reply @Luke. I am afraid if it is the case too. Therefore I build a new LXC (v3.5.3.0) and add the exact same folder to it to read the log.

grep musicbrainz01 /var/lib/emby/logs/embyserver.txt

2019-01-30 23:21:03.804 Info HttpClient: GET http://musicbrainz01.eastus2.cloudapp.azure.com:8080/ws/2/release/?query="Endless+sorrow" AND artist:"Ayumi+Hamasaki"
2019-01-30 23:21:04.616 Info HttpClient: GET http://musicbrainz01.eastus2.cloudapp.azure.com:8080/ws/2/artist/?query="Ayumi+Hamasaki"&dismax=true
2019-01-30 23:23:55.116 Info HttpClient: GET http://musicbrainz01.eastus2.cloudapp.azure.com:8080/ws/2/release/?query="Endless+sorrow" AND arid:2b615bcf-baa0-4657-b9a5-1a5f34c386c4

Somehow v3.5.3.0 will eventually  found the ablum with arid and get the music brianz id correctly.

I have about 50+ albums which could not be identify under this library, if there are only several of them could not be identify I might not aware.

I also attached the log to see if it would help.

Hi @Luke

But if the album is called Endless Sorrow isn't that the right thing to be querying on?

I don't think the album name is the issue. It appears that 4.0.x is  using Artists Name when it makes the query (album+Artist Name) and 3.5.3 uses Album + artist ID. The Artist Name search vs id will produce different (less consistent) results. MusicBrainz at least will return albums by artist, album artist, release group.

@angusleung did I capture the issue accurately?

@Vicpa. Yes, absolutely. You are right. I would like to raise 3.5.3.0 would make a query to artist ID which v4+ skipped somehow
