I've got it working and weird enough it's a little thing.

Not working:

.mkv
.dutch.forced.srt

Working:

.mkv
.Dutch.forced.srt

// It only works for me with capitalizing the language, can you try the same?  Or does it also works on your end with all lowercase letters?

Synology.

Is this something you are aware of? I do not see a difference, but I'm using Windows.

Casing won't matter, however for best results i would use the two or three character code for the language.

Isn't it better to use "nl" instead of "Dut"?

https://kodi.wiki/view/List_of_language_codes_(ISO-639:1988)

@Angelblue05  I tried it with

Flicka Country Pride (2012).nl.srt

Flicka Country Pride (2012).nl.forced.srt

It recognizes the subtitle as shown in the screenshots above but he always pick the English Default: http://prntscr.com/md4yvs

Can you provide a screenshot of the media info from the emby webclient with the nl naming? Thank you

emby saves the stream selection, so it will always play the last selected streams again

This is very true. @@zMeckx

Do you see the second track in Kodi with nl? If so, try selecting the subtitles. Wait a few moments. Stop playback. Start playback, it should pick the correct subtitles.
