Music Playlists

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but are Music playlists supported in Emby for Kodi? I mean, outside of browsing the Emby add-on itself? They don't seem to be syncing up on the Kodi end.

He means that why the add-on doesn't place the music playlist like it does for the movies and music

@@zang74 if you use embruary go to the skin settings and add it yourself, that is what I did.

Unfortunately, I don't want to use Embruary. I've been highly editing another skin specifically for the needs of my family and CoreELEC, so that's part of that is what's brought this up. As is, I use direct paths, and import my player's M3U files to Emby, all pointing to files shared on my NAS.

I can just add those Music playlists to Kodi directly, pointing to the shared files on the NAS, but it seems redundant and is also terribly slow. Kodi seems to want to grab all metadata from the files every time the playlist is opened. EVERY time. And you can imagine on a 1200+ song playlist on a single-board computer like an Odroid C2, how frustrating that can be. Any time I change the playlist in the player (which are automatically exported to and updated by Emby), I'd also need to export them to my Kodi boxes.

It'd be great if there were a playlist there that points to Emby, rather than the NAS files themselves—and thus can update things like recently played songs in Kodi's (Emby-produced) music library.

You get what you pay for :) These S905 devices are cheap and slow.

Depending on your used skin you can link the "video addon -> emby -> playlists" to your main menu. But this is a 100% skin solution and we have no control over it. Some skins support it, Others don't. And the implementation can always be different. So there is no "how to" we can give you.

It's not just the Odroid. I've been doing most of the skin development in a virtualized LibreELEC on my i5 machine. It's slow there, too.

But what's the mechanism being used? Is it Super Favourites? How is the skin getting the directory in the first place? Is there at least a direct path ("plugin://plugin.video.emby/musicplaylists" or that sort of thing) that I can use in my skinning?

This link is always different and unique for each Emby server.

In my case it's "plugin://plugin.video.emby/?id=1071671e7bffa0532e930debee501d2e&mode=browse&type=playlists"

Just go to "video addons -> emby -> playlists" and use the ListItem.Filenameandpath of this item (or Container.Folderpath if you have entered it) to get the correct ID

Edit:

Or just visit the web gui from your browser and open your playlists library and take a look at the URL:

https://XXX/web/index.html#!/list/list.html?parentId=1071671e7bffa0532e930debee501d2e&serverId=XXXX

It's the parentId.

Then you can use ActivateWindow(videos,plugin://plugin.video.emby/?id=1071671e7bffa0532e930debee501d2e&mode=browse&type=playlists,return)
