Ok, in the meantime we made our own edits to the font to support more arabic characters, so now we have to be careful not to step on each other's toes. How does that compare to this:

Unfortunately, still it has the same issue :(

I'm sure my modification will work

I have not only fixed the issue, also I have changed the Arabic font to the better readable for the subtitle. the current one not comfortable for subtitle purpose.

to compare between them please see the attached file

Many thanks @@Luke

I have just tested emby (beta) android mobile, it's work perfectly. thanks to use my fix.

What about iOS and AppleTV? will you use my modification as well? Actually I'm still trying to solve it without using subfont.ttf with mpv support but with no luck :( (please see this topic that I have started it with mpv support) .. please read it, maybe you can figure it out.

Thanks

I have tried some methods to figure out the issue.

Method 01:

Download mpv build https://laboratory.stolendata.net/~djinn/mpv_osx/

give me same issue.

--------

Method 02:

Using Homebrew:

brew install freetype

brew install fribidi

brew install libass

brew install ffmpeg

install mpv from main source manually https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/

Same issue :(

-------

Method 03:

Configure and compile/install everything manually:

git clone https://github.com/source-foundry/freetype2

git clone https://github.com/fribidi/fribidi

git clone https://github.com/libass/libass

git clone https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg

git clone https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/ (or from home brew)

it works without any issues in Arabic font. So I think the issue from one of these: freetype2, fribidi or libass

I hope this can help

We'll begin using the custom font with the next updates to the ios and tvos apps. Thanks.

In the meantime, I think this is the fastest way to fix it ... Thanks I'm really appreciate your support.

I have done some modification on the Arabic font to improve it, could you please use the updated one (attached) on iOS, TVOS and Android Mobile?

Thanks

Hi @Luke

Thanks, you have fixed the font; there is no issues in characters ...

but unfortunately, the font is used is not good also it's not comfortable to read.

Kindly I have a favor to ask you, please change the Arabic font to another suitable one that is good for subtitle.

also it need some margin at the bottom.

My advice is to use "Adobe Arabic Bold" font.

Please see the attached screenshot.

Thanks 🙏
