Copenhagen 0
Edited to change topic title... I have been trying out Emby here lately which I was quite happy with, everything seemed to work just fine up until a few days ago. Now, none of my local media will play. Content that was playing just fine will no longer play. All my local media is MP4. Is there somewhere I need to turn on support for that our something? I've had to go back to PLEX, because nothing I have will play anymore. I tried restarting the server but that did not help either. Happy2Play 8239
99.9% of my media is converted to mp4 and I am not having any issues. Can you post a server log.

speechles 1917
There would be an outright riot if mp4 support suddenly was lost. Instead what happened is the paths to your media maybe changed? Did a local LAN IP address change for your NAS/Storage? The Roku cannot use network names and is dependent on IP addresses for everything. If you can provide us with the information @@ebr requested above we can investigate what went wrong for you. We are happy to help you.
Copenhagen 0
I did not put the server log on here because im using my phone. Edited to post logs... I also rebooted the computer and the Roku TV. Still no fix. If what was suggested is the case, does this happen often? Has many others had this problem? Copenhagen 0
Yes it's a local drive. My bad I thought they were all converted to MP4. However these all played just fine 4 or 5 days ago. Edited January 22, 2019 by Copenhagen

Copenhagen 0
I have not tried a web app. By doing a little research it would appear that there has been a new server update round about the same time this problem occurred. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'm not super familiar with Emby. And, since I've moved to a new house after being recently married I don't really have my PC set up in a good location to just sit down and mull through like I normally would. If anyone can help that would be great. I'm just using plex till I can get this worked out. I actually like Emby better. Maybe it is the path thats messed up I'll fool with it later tonight. There's a parameter for an h264 bitstream filter although we're copying the stream, but I don't think that this is the problem. We should get a file for testing. He said his files are mp4. Maybe they are in fact MP4 but the file extension is incorrect. In this case, ffmpeg would fail because we specify the "-f flv" input parameter. He could check this by running the command line manually without the input format parameter: C:\Users\SammyHome\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\ffmpeg.exe -noaccurate_seek -i file:"D:\Local Videos\TV Shows\Stargate SG-1\Season 2\Stargate SG-1 - S02E03 - Prisoners.flv" -threads 0 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map -0:s -c:v:0 copy -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -copyts -vsync -1 -codec:a:0 copy -disposition:a:0 default -copypriorss:a:0 0 -f segment -max_delay 5000000 -avoid_negative_ts disabled -map_metadata -1 -map_chapters -1 -start_at_zero -segment_time 3 -individual_header_trailer 0 -break_non_keyframes 1 -segment_format mpegts -segment_list_type m3u8 -segment_start_number 0 -segment_list "C:\Users\SammyHome\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\transcoding-temp\750b3f4b71299d29174b8af8679353f0.m3u8" -y "C:\Users\SammyHome\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\transcoding-temp\750b3f4b71299d29174b8af8679353f0%d.ts"

Copenhagen 0
Well, I fixed it. Not the preferred method, but I did fix it. I went in and deleted the folders and recreated them. It would be great to know why this occurred. I can see where that might get very frustrating if it happened on every server update.
Luke 36999
That would have caused the media info of the file to be rescanned. Can you provide a new ffmpeg log of the same video file so that we can compare? thanks.
DiGecko 0
I am having similar issues. Ever since update to 4.0.1.0 every time I try to playback on Roku it crashes the server, so I have to go and restart it. Playback from Android device works just fine. Debug is off, Roku is streaming stick, no settings were changed, it just stopped working. embyserver-63683916048.txt

In fact there appear to be several different playback attempts in it. Can you please explain exactly what is happening? Thanks.
DiGecko 0
Yes, I will open Emby on Roku, navigate to the movie I want to play, hit play and the picture will freeze with "loading" circle in the middle. Even if I let it sit for 5 minutes nothing changes. After that if I try to open emby on my phone it will tell me that server is offline, if I go to the computer and try to access the server it will show offline. See pictures attached. Only way to get the server back up at this point is to reboot the computer or the server from the context menu in tray.
ebr 14902
And you are positive the above log was from when that exact scenario occurred? I don't see any evidence of a hang or crash and I see multiple playback requests.

speechles 1917
Define "freeze". Does the loading spinner continue to rotate and never finishes the loading? Just spins forever. Or Does the loading spinner stop spinning and everything stops and just hangs? Edited January 24, 2019 by speechles
DiGecko 0
It stops completely, file is mp4, if that makes any difference, and I don't even see call for it in logs. In latest log I started playing Home, and after I stopped it, I started Frozen and issue occurred. Edited January 24, 2019 by DiGecko
ebr 14902
The playback of Frozen may be a red herring. Try just playing "Home" and then stopping. Then don't touch the Roku but see if your server is responding via the web.
DiGecko 0
That's what I am thinking too, but it plays just fine from Android app and from Chrome on the computer.
speechles 1917
Yeah I was going to say the spinner staying on-screen but stopping while video playback is supposed to happen means the network is down or the server connection is broken. The video player hasn't been told what to do in that case when it gets the network down or 4xx/5xx http errors. The loading spinner isn't dismissed because it relies on an async task completing (the video player task starting) to wake the observer that kills the loading spinner. It doesn't complete because the ApiCall errors on 4xx/5xx error and kills it before it can dispatch it has completed to the observer. I can see why this happens. DiGecko 0
There is more oddity. I have gotten a different version of it, removed old one from the library, added new one in different resolution, re scanned library, attempted playback with same result.
