I am binge watching Have Gun Will Travel, but the "Play next episode automatically" option is not working, that option is enabled in the settings menu.  Hasn't worked for awhile, but do not recall if it started after the update to version 4.0, or prior.

When the episode was about 45 seconds from completion, an **applet** would pop up, in the bottom right corner of the screen, asking me if I wanted stop or continue to the next episode, it does not do that anymore.

Using the latest, server AND client versions.

Server.. 4.0.0.2

client running on Nvidia Shield.  version 1.6.77

Are you sure you're not thinking about the way Plex does this?

Emby just plays the next episode without the popup box.

There is a setting for "show next up preview" in the app. Is it enabled? Also a setting for "Play next Episode Automatically" is that enabled? Those are both found in Playback settings in the app.

I haven't gotten the update yet, so I can't reproduce the problem.

You could try clearing the cache/data and try again, if you haven't tried that yet.

I rarely use Plex, and I don't think I have been hallucinating......  Been a couple of weeks since I binged watch and that pop-up always came about 45 seconds prior to the show ending, then at the end of that 45 seconds, it would automatically increment to the next episode.  Now when the current episode ends, heaven for bid, I have to grab the remote an perform some commands...  This is not conducive to binge watching.  Now when the show ends, it goes back to episode that I just watched.

Just finished watching this episode, and it went back to the just watched episode screen.

Had to cursor down and over to select NEXT episode.

The feature is working on Emby Theater running on my desktop computer.  How do I do clear the cache???

I will test some of my other Android boxes.

Just tested on my Jetstream AGT418 running AndroidTv 1.6.72g.  Problem exist on this version, so it appears to be a server problem.

Arch Linux
Emby server 4.0.0.2 (upgraded from official repositories)
Client: Android TV. Nvidia Shield TV.

After upgrade to 4.0.0.2 "Play Next Episode Automatically" has stopped working.

When an episode finishes, it returns to episode page. I have to manually select the next episode to continue.

I attach the server log. It's happened to me with two series (I haven't tested any more). But in the log that I attach the episode files begin with "Farina 1x0...".

I'm having a similar issue on Arch. Mine just spins the loader forever and never moves on to the next episode. In the previous version I had to hold back ffmpeg to version 4.0.2 to avoid an issue with resume not working. I'm wondering if it's now safe to upgrade ffmpeg to 4.1 and if this might solve the issue. I want to wait to hear from a dev though before doing the upgrade.

Duly noted, thanks.

It is so strenuous, that every thirty minutes (while binge watching), I have to move my forearm approximately 6 inches to grasp the remote, then engage my finger muscles on the remote keys.  Just hope I don't get carpal tunnel.

That baffles me......  And you are running this version on Windows 10??  Version 4.0.0.2

My ffmpeg version is 4.0.2 (the emby version) but I think this isn't the problem. In previous version (3.5.3.0) this worked.
