I am new to Emby. Trying it out for a month to decide if I want to move from Plex.  I am having a few issues that I am hoping someone can help with.

1. Sync my watched data

2. Getting a scan to recognize my files. It adds the shows info but it says that there are no files available.

3. New data Emby is putting in my folders is making my Plex scanner go crazy.

4. Live TV data not loading at all.

Any help with these issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Bret

Hi

1, Best option for this is to use the Trakt plugin, this stores your watched state on the Trakt website (can be made totally private if you wish), this will then sync the watched state between Emby & Plex

3, Emby stores metadata inside the folders with your files (not sure if this is the default or not), after initially setting up Emby it will cause Plex to constantly scan as it thinks changes are being made, after everything is running and scanned this should settle down

Not sure on the other points

Saving metadata into media folders is off by default, in case that helps.

This has now been turned off on all libraries

Honestly I think you'll like Emby better than Plex.  Assuming that premise:

1) As mentioned, install the Trackt plugin for plex (manually since they removed plugins) and do an export or sync.  Install the Trakt plugin for Emby and do an import or sync.  This will keep both system synced on your watch status.

2) Need more info to understand what your specific issue is.  Can you elaborate more on what #2 means?

3) I'd turn the option back on and allow Emby to store this data with the media.

What you can do is change your Plex options so it's not updating the libraries on every new file change or addition.  Just let Plex scan once or twice a day using a schedule.  Once Emby is done adding all the meta-data you can turn this option back on in Plex.  Sort of getting past the "hump" of the initial Emby load of data.

4) We need more info to understand how far you got.  What tuner(s) do you have and what guide did you select?

What platform are you running Emby server on?  Windows, NAS, etc?

Are you running Plex on this same system?  (they will run fine on the same box)

What clients do you have (i.e. Android TV, Roku, etc?

4) We need more info to understand how far you got.  What tuner(s) do you have and what guide did you select?  I have 3 hdhomerun primes & 1 hdhomerun quatro with premium tv

What platform are you running Emby server on?  Windows, NAS, etc? Windows 10

Are you running Plex on this same system?  (they will run fine on the same box) Yes

What clients do you have (i.e. Android TV, Roku, etc? iOS Apple TV  Fire Stick & others

Thanks for any help you can provide.  I do like the emby interface & alot of the feature but it just seems a little buggy the the media & finding it so far.  Hopefully it is something I am doing wrong.

#1 You installed the trakt plugin and provided your trakt login info to the plugin?

#2 When did you install?  It took the better part of a day and a half for my new emby install to "settle in"

#3 I'm not smart enough to answer this question.

#4 On Live TV.  Can you show a screen shot of the live tv dashboard screen?  Does it find all of your tuners?  Also, are you running a VPN or anything similar on your network or your emby computer?  Laslty, is everyone on the same subnet?

Everyone's system is different.  It all depends on how much media and what options are enabled per library.

Can you post a server log.

If you can attach the server log i can provide some tips on how to speed it up based on what features are enabled. Thanks !

What directory did you add to the TV Shows library?

Did you add:

G:\TV Shows

or

G:\TV Shows\BK Shows

???

Provide a screen shot or two of your Tuner/Guide setup in Emby so we can look at that as well.
