BUG - Windows Emby theater app does not display images when scrolling down

Hi.

The windows Store app only displays the pictures for media on the initially displayed screen of the application.

Trying to scroll down or going down the list of movies for example will only display blank rectangles with the titles.

If you actually click a title, you can see sometimes a flash of all pictures being displayed before going to the clicked item.

Clicking back in the app will put the user back to the level of the list he was before and the pictures will then be displayed all the way to the level of the list he is now in ... but not the ones below.

Exiting movies and coming back to movies will have the same behavior reproduce again.

The app just does not display the pictures of not shown parts of the screen and does not trigger their display when going down the list.

No amount of restarting, full screen, cache cleaning, restarting etc changed this behavior.

The fact you can sometimes see the images being displayed when you click an item before navigation takes effect shows this is a bug of the application.

Hi, the app lazy loads images as you scroll, so it's really just a question of how quickly this happens on your hardware. Also it's possible that on Xbox it might not be triggering any events until the scroll is complete. I'll look at that.

Can you please attach an emby server log? thanks.

I am reproducing the thing since i installed the latest server.

But this has become something else since I installed 4.0.2

Now, the server will not display any picture past a dozen.

I see in the logs (example below) it just stalls at getting pictures from the movie database.

So that is something new, i will try a full library update, maybe the new server wants new images from the ones previously downloaded ?

I was having this issue too.  But after the last several updates the art is considerably better.  I was missing random covers on the home screen by 65% or more even after it had sat for an hour.  As soon as I enter a movie a second later the art shows up in the movie screen.  I back out most of the other art is now displayed.  Then its click into the blank spot to see what its trying to display and the art has a 50/50 shot as to it displaying or not.  I thought that mabey it was one of my cover sizes but then I remembers emby resizes them.  If I use the replace meta feature it then displays fine.  Put back the one I had it will not display.  Turn on the pc the next day and no issue for that movie now its another.  Very random.

As I said in the last few updates this has gotten much much better.  Now I only have a hand full.

Well, with the last server update, I was forced to re download every single piece of metadata for the whole movie collection.

And this was only possible when I manually went to each page of movies and letting the server grab the pictures from slow internet lost somewhere on an indonesian island ... not great

But at least, I this time had the server save each poster in the movie folder so that hopefully won't happen again.

NOW, for the EMBY player of windows store, even after updating all the server and updating all libraries with all proper metadata and poster.

The bug of the emby player not displaying anything that is not on the first screen drawn is still there.

It is exactly the same as before, only displayed pictures are the ones shown on the displayed area when you navigate.

All that is below that does not get displayed.

Posting server log as soon as I re identified left out movies by the emby scanner.

It's just the way the lazy loading works, it does not load images until they are needed.

The first time this may seem slow, but it will be faster after that. Since you have just upgraded to 4.0, you may be experiencing that "first time" again.

Well, I just launched the windows store app, I had to manually click a random movie on each pagination screen and hitting back to have all the posters display on that level.

I did that for the whole list.

Checked everything was there, exited, re launched the thing and the same thing happened again.

The logs are showing the server trying to grab the posters from online, despite these posters having been saved in each folder.

There is something wrong there.

I refreshed the whole library saving the posters in each folder.

The posters are already there but simply not displayed, a go to a movie and back instantly displays the correct posters that would not show before.

This is just broken.

This behavior does not happen in the desktop app.

ps  how do i post the logs ?

Anyway I just erase the windows store app, it just does not work.

It loaded the images completely, I exited and the same behavior happened again.

The logs below were the first time.

It did this behavior, exactly the same, before the 4.0.2 update.

I don't get why the client would have to download again itself the posters when they are all saved in each folder oO.

Oh well, the desktop app works well enough so I just kept that one.

It's downloading again because somethings have changed such as internal identifier, cache keys, etc. As the app gradually rebuilds it's local cache store, performance will improve. Thanks.

It does happen in the desktop app exactly as you described.  I will be posting the log and screenshot tomorrow sometime for luke  to look at. There a a couple of other threads on this too and luke is aware of it.  For the record the store app will not work as designed on a pc as its not for a pc, for a pc you must install the client windows app.  I made the same mistake and was educated:)
