Current Version 3.5.3.0

When clicking on upgrade button, Emby server response as below:

5c3e404986671_ScreenShot20190115at201756

Than I click restart and it tells me again that that the upgrade to 4.0 is available:

5c3e40a5bfaf8_ScreenShot20190115at201949

And this running tasks keeps being displayed on 0.0%:

5c3e411bb799c_ScreenShot20190115at202227

And the Alert tells me it was successful:

5c3e40c4f1466_ScreenShot20190115at202001

Tried it a few times. What now?!

Thanks

Try shutting down the server and then installing from the website on top of your existing version. Thanks.

Hi

This is usually down to a file or directory lock.

Just restart the whole server and launch emby.  It should then update.

No it will not change existing settings - whichever method you choose.

Most of the time I have had this happen it was the browser itself holding the system folder and preventing the update.  Closing the browser after selecting restart has always worked for me when this happens..

If you shut down the server you won't be able to do anything!!  :) :)

But we know what you mean.

As the announce says "so please be patient".

Just link any release the versions have to be built and will be come available when that happens.  Windows is always first. :D

Can't install 4.0.2 on windows either.

The auto update does not apply itself at all.

The setup available online freezes and does nothing for half an hour.

And the binaries page is 404.

Hi.  This sounds like a network connectivity problem.

Hi.  This sounds like a network connectivity problem.

It's not.

The package for he update in the app has been downloaded 5 times from scratch.

It's not a connectivity issue.

Had the same thing last night. Kept saying it installed the update but needed to restart the server. I restarted my PC and all went well

Yes, something was holding a lock on the file/folder.  This is typically the cause of this problem so that's why a reboot was our first suggestion here.

And indeed restarting the computer, the server was already up to 4.0.2 on restart.

Thanks.

Always try turning it off and on again :P

Yes, I know this for years now, but still often forget doing it. :-)

This solved the problem for me.

Thanks

Haha, many do.

Mainly the reason why at the helpdesk it is one of the first things to advise.

Depends a little on the problem of course, but often enough fixes "small" things.

I hate it though because it was also the first thing I got to hear from seniors when I still did the job :P

Or when I call the ISP company and they tell me to reset the router...

Standard procedure though so I tend to stay calm on the phone and just tell them that the first steps have been taken care of :D

You' re welcome and enjoy!

I had to do this, and worked fine for me. (Had same problem as thread starter)

Thanks for the feedback. It means that something was holding a lock on the server system folder and this prevented files from being able to update.
