xbmcgotham 32
Will this not remove the library and configuration settings?
maegibbons 1267
Hi This is usually down to a file or directory lock. Just restart the whole server and launch emby. It should then update. No it will not change existing settings - whichever method you choose. Happy2Play 8238
Most of the time I have had this happen it was the browser itself holding the system folder and preventing the update. Closing the browser after selecting restart has always worked for me when this happens..

Yericus 1
Can't install 4.0.2 on windows either. The auto update does not apply itself at all. The setup available online freezes and does nothing for half an hour. And the binaries page is 404.

Yericus 1
Hi. This sounds like a network connectivity problem. It's not. The package for he update in the app has been downloaded 5 times from scratch. It's not a connectivity issue.
ebr 14902
And the binaries page is 404. What, exactly, did you mean by the above?
Jack Burton 94
Had the same thing last night. Kept saying it installed the update but needed to restart the server. I restarted my PC and all went well

I restarted my PC and all went well Yes, something was holding a lock on the file/folder. This is typically the cause of this problem so that's why a reboot was our first suggestion here. Yericus 1
What, exactly, did you mean by the above? This was leading to a 404 page on your server 15 minutes ago. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.0.0.2/embyserver-win-x64-4.0.0.2.7z It now has been updated and downloads just fine. eh. ebr 14902
Hi. That is not our server. It is GitHub. Perhaps they had a temporary problem. Thanks.
Yericus 1
Yes, something was holding a lock on the file/folder. This is typically the cause of this problem so that's why a reboot was our first suggestion here. And indeed restarting the computer, the server was already up to 4.0.2 on restart. Thanks. miniliQuid 84
Yes, I know this for years now, but still often forget doing it. :-) This solved the problem for me. Thanks Haha, many do. Mainly the reason why at the helpdesk it is one of the first things to advise. Depends a little on the problem of course, but often enough fixes "small" things. I hate it though because it was also the first thing I got to hear from seniors when I still did the job Or when I call the ISP company and they tell me to reset the router... Standard procedure though so I tend to stay calm on the phone and just tell them that the first steps have been taken care of You' re welcome and enjoy! Solution Luke 36997 Posted January 16, 2019 Solution Share Posted January 16, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. It means that something was holding a lock on the server system folder and this prevented files from being able to update.
