TCL Roku TV

So one of my kids just killed my 60" Panasonic Plasma TV by cracking the glass. I am thinking about getting a TCL 6 Series 65" as the replacement as we want to be budget friendly in our replacement. Does anyone here have any experience with Emby for the built in Roku? Most of my media is stored in .mkv files, 1080p (we don't have any 4k content yet) and whatever audio. was built into the media.

What amount of trans coding should I expect? Should I plan to use my Nvidia Shield or will the built in Roku work great?

There are others here with more TV that I think is a great choice. It has robust format support and low priced.

I have two TCL Roku TVs and three Roku devices on other TVs. Both of my TCL TVs work flawlessly with the Emby App. My older TCL TV did not have an Ethernet wired network connector and the wireless signal was a little weak (but still worked). I discovered that I could plug an inexpensive Ethernet adapter into the TCL's USB port, restart the TV, and the Ethernet adapter showed up as a network connection. It worked well and provided a reliable, high-speed local network connection that improved performance with Emby. Many of the newer TCLs provide both wired and wireless network connections. Most other brands do not have this option.

I have a 60" Sharp Roku TV. Emby is flawless on it as well as the the TV itself. Everything is snappy as a Roku should be. I also have many Roku boxes as well over the years i have bought. Because the Roku TV's work so well a box is not needed and in fact i prefer no box, less clutter and ports used plus i usually hate TV UI's so the Roku TV UI is a nice treat.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I picked up the TCL 65r615 to replace my old plasma.

So far it makes me excited for 4k, and makes me miss plasma and wish that technology would have lasted into 4k. I will echo that the wireless connection of the TV is horrible. The specs say it has an AC capable wireless setup but I cannot get it to connect to 5 ghz. I have setup a client bridge/media bridge so get a full 801.11 AC connection using an old Asus router, but I also have the Nvidia Shield TV setup too as a backup as that does have great bandwidth through my network in wireless.
