I'm running Emby Server 3.5.3.0.

My library media went missing for some reason. I tried to remove everything and re-install Emby on Docker. However, when library folders are added and scanned, it ends immediately. No media is shown.

Log file is attached. Any help on this is appreciated.

Hi, have you created any libraries on the new installation?

Yes. I created Movie, TV, Music libraries. Scanning does not do anything.Real time monitoring is enabled for libraries.

Removed previous Emby config folder and image on Docker and resrarted the server computer before creating new Emby server on Docker.

Thanks!

Hmm, that is interesting. Can you try something, click button to add a new library as if you were going to add one, and just use the directory browser. Is the directory browser able to see folders under /mnt/share1/Movies, and the other libraries? Thanks.

Strangely, the folders under /mnt/share1/Movies and other libraries cannot be seen.

I tried with another share, /mnt/share2/ for Photos and Home Videos, and the folders under that can be browsed.

Also, I can access the media folders with Samba in my windows computer.

Thanks!

Ok, then i would suggest figuring out the differences in permissions between them, and once you've done that this should be resolved. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !

Update:

I removed /mnt/share1 from Docker container settings, and added again (and kept /mnt/share2). This time, I could add libraries and scan works!

Luke, thanks for helping. I'd like to know the reason for this, if someone can figure it out, for future references.

Edit: There were not permission differences between the folders. Just removed and added folders.

Another update: This happened again. I assume the cause is not Emby, rather, UnionFS that I'm using to merge several drives, because it affects all the docker apps that use the shared folders.

I found two ways to fix the issue.

1. In "shared folders", edit the drive (just re-select) and save. It resets the Media folder that I shared.

2. Use the physical folder (/srv/....) in docker to set the paths instead of "shared folders". I think this method is more robust.

Hi ! I did not understand correctly your last update.

I have the exact same issue :

folderA working fine, and could be browsered

folderB working fine, and could be browsered

folderAB, from aufs mount, not working  and could not be browsered

Can you re explain your solution ?

Have a nice day !

Hi @@Luke,

After a long night of research, I finally found the solution.

The issue was that my media directory appearing empty inside the emby container.

I have a /media/movies directory that is populated from radarr

And I have a /media/movies4k directory that is populated from a second instance of radarr

I first tried to add this two directories in one library inside emby, my movies showed up but the 4k version and the 1080p version appeared as two different movies.

This was an expected result as for now emby support automated grouping only inside the same folder.

So I mounted an aufs volume from movies and movies4k into embymovies. Added embymovies inside a new library and that didn't work. I figured that the embymovies directory was populated correctly and merged correctly in my host filesystem but not inside emby container.

Solution : mount the aufs volume before starting emby container and all work now smoothly !

Now my movies appears to be in the same folder thanks to aufs and emby automatically group them and let me choose the one that I want to playback.

I hope I was clear enough , don't hesitate to ask me more details.

Have a nice day !
