elmacko 0
Hi, I'm having some issues with fast forwarding movies when casting to chromecast from the ios app. Also, whenever I try to resume a movie I have already started watching, it always starts from the beginning. When I try to fast forward to some other point in the movie it just restarts from beginning every time, and when it restarts, it does not seem to be working anymore because all I see is a black screen without any sound, however the time of the movie is progressing as if it was playing. I also tried this when casting from the web application with the same exact behaviour. If I'm not casting the fast forwarding/resuming is working as expected. Is anyone else having the same issues? Emby server version running on linux ubuntu: 3.5.3.0 Emby ios app version: 1.7.0 Thanks.
Luke 36882
Hi there, can you please provide the emby server and ffmpeg log from an example? You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ thanks !
elmacko 0
I will try to get you the logs.

elmacko 0
Okay so I got some logs for you. I have replaced my internal ip-addresses with x.x.x.x, y.y.y.y and z.z.z.z, my external emby address with <emby-external-ip>, my internal emby address with <emby-internal-ip>, the first movie name with <movie-name-1> and the second movie name with <movie-name-2>. This is how I generated the attached logs: removed all existing logs. restarted emby. connected to my chromecast in the emby app on my iphone. started playing a new movie (movie-name-1) and tried to fast forward a couple of times. The behavior I described above happened. resumed a movie I had started watching before (movie-name-2), then tried to fast forward a couple of times with the same behavior. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-9a899283-2346-42e0-9572-9e3efa8e0672.txt ffmpeg-remux-23eae0a5-aa43-40b7-9d11-16d4e63659c9.txt ffmpeg-remux-571bf83b-d0ff-44b0-937e-5619675050ee.txt ffmpeg-remux-b90527da-cef3-48e4-9dc0-43d5eceded7a.txt ffmpeg-remux-be5cac66-99e1-46d4-8076-8fbc773a929c.txt
Luke 36882
@@elmacko, I cannot reproduce this. Can you please try again with the upcoming 4.0 server release? It will be any day now. If there's still an issue after that let's re-evaluate. I'll probably want to get a sample file for testing. thanks !
elmacko 0
Ok sure. Weird that you can’t reproduce. I haven’t had these issues before but I can’t remember when they started. Lets hope it works with the new version. Thanks man
elmacko 0
Just as a note, I’m using a chromecast built into my android tv, if that has any impact.

elmacko 0
Hey again @@Luke, I just tested with the newest versions of both ios app and server and I still have the same issue as before. Do you think it has something to do with the built in chromecast? Server: 4.0.1.0 App: 1.7.3 Edited January 23, 2019 by elmacko
Luke 36882
I don't know at this point. Can i get a sample video for testing? That will help me narrow it down. Thanks.

elmacko 0
So I was just testing some more and I made a discovery; .mp4 files works perfectly fine to fast forward and resume when casting to chromecast while .avi and .mkv files does not work as I described above. What could be the cause of this? EDIT: Found some .mp4 files that does not work to fast forward/resume either... Projectionist 0
Luke, sample linked here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ocpY0qbs-nwf0PjQwPJuf0FGJTof9Omc Confirmed this is happening in the web app and android app; after Chromecast connects, the seek buttons disappear. Thanks a million for diving into this.
