JDizzy 21
Installed current version of Emby and it seems to behave nicely. I don't know if it is me, or.... but it seems that when I add a new drive to my NAS device, I can no longer access Emby through the browser saying it cannot connect. If I reinstall Emby then I can again connect to configuration screen. BUT, it wipes prior database and configuration making me go through all that again. As a note, Plex also did this also so do not think it is Emby related but rather WD related. I am afraid that if/when there is an update to Emby, it might wipe my Emby data again during update.... yikes! So, for now, my workaround would be to back up Emby vital files prior to updating and then restore after update (if needed). I did install the Backup/Restore Plugin and can see it is working as intended. My question is: Is this plugin backing up everything needed to pickup where I left off if I lose Emby (movie data/images, music data, etc)? I'm not good with SSH and would prefer not to manually move files around if possible. Any thoughts? Edited December 29, 2018 by JDizzy
Luke 36878
The backup plugin could cover most of it. If you really want to be thorough you can always grab the entire program data folder.
JDizzy 21
That would be best.... tried to login with one of those file moving programs, like filezilla but can't seen to figure out what the password is. None was assigned to the 'admin' account.... I'll just have to keep hacking away until I get in. Thanks
JDizzy 21
Ok, I have managed to get to root folder, where (what path) might the program data folder be located? Appreciate any help.
Luke 36878
You can use the logs section of the server dashboard to view a server log. The program data path is printed near the top of the log. Thanks.

The program data path is printed near the top of the log. Thanks. Ha.. exactly what I did.... followed it to the files. Here is one path: /mnt/HD/HD_a2/emby/ Question.... when Emby updates, which folders should I grab to where I could just copy them back and it would not disturb the update, and allow me to have all libraries intact with all the metadata etc...? (in other words, pickup where it was prior to update) Or, should I just copy the entire emby folder? My emby subfolder options are: cache config data logs metadata plugins root transcode-temp I also see some files (I believe would be the actual program files) at /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/emby-server/ which seem like the ones that would get updated. (which I probably would not need)…… Dunno, but if someone could clue me in on which folders from which path(s) I need, it would be appreciated and my work would be done.
