Sharing HDHomerun with Windows Media Center?

I told my technophobic wife that I'd sort out our new Emby installation before removing the old Windows MCE box. I uninstalled 1 of the 3 HdHomeRun tuners thinking that Emby premiun could use it. However no live tv, no guide, nothing. Am I trying something that is not possible? Is there anything that I must do to reinitialize the hdhomerun to prepare it for its new life?

Ubuntu 18.04

Emby Premium

HDHomerun cablecard (Comcast)

Yes I followed guide. I selected hdhomerin and saved then entered schedule direct info and saved. The loading bar started but seemed not to finish. Then at the home screen the tv icon was there but not functional

In the web app when I select "live tv" then "guide" I see a time scale across the top with no information below - no rows, no channels.

yes, but there are 3 tuners for the HDHomerun at that address. Two are used by Windows MCE and I freed up one so that I could test new systems. I've tried kodi/mythtv (seemed a painful and finicky lashup) and also plex (tv guide is weird - wife would hate it). So far I think Emby is the front runner. If I can get tv to work and set up a remote control (with flirc) I'll be happy.

Did you configure any parental controls for this emby user, such as blocking unrated content? That could cause channels to not show up.

Try clicking the refresh guide button. If channels are still empty then please attach the emby server log.

Also, make sure the HDHR ip address is correct, and that you're running the latest HDHR firmware, and that your channels all show up in the HDHR web admin interface.

when I click the refresh, the progress bar appears then goes away after about 3 seconds. I think it should fill in green from left to right but that doesn't happen.

Ok so there's your first problem. The HDHR API is returning zero channels. You need to fix this before you even worry about Schedules Direct guide data. So this goes back to what i said earlier:

looks like we're cooking now. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't realise I had to go into the HDHomerun setup and click "detect channels" before configuring Emby. I re-entered the Schedules Direct info in Emby setup and the progress bar started to fill up. My guide and live tv are functioning. Thanks Luke.
