Quadro for transcoding + Geforce card for gaming

Hi all,
im planning to build a new media server win10 and use Emby with my collection. Now the question, i would like to use the Quadro card (P2000) only for transcoding (Nvenc) (more than 2 users) and the Geforce (2080ti) for occasional gaming. Will it work or not? At least the transcoding would release the cpu workload, so the audio would be transcoded by the CPU. Does someone have such build? Is it working fine? I did research and found out that it could work with modded nvidia drivers.

@@Peppe - since you are planning for multiple streams, I'm assuming that you expect the streaming to work even while you are gaming.

In this case, I think this is impossible to achieve. You must not only consider each component's performance and throughput individually. There are a number of other system resources that would need to be shared in such scenarios, like memory bandwidth, PCI bus throughput, network and disk controller I/O (limited by the aforementioned).

Also, there's the Windows scheduler: On Windows workstations there's that "foreground application boost" pattern that will ensure smooth gameplay and prevent hangs or glitches, but at the same time it will prevent "fair" scheduling for background services and that may cause streaming interruptions even if transcoding would be 100% hardware accelerated.

Since you mentioned the Geforce 2080ti, I assume that you're not planning to feed animals in a browser 'game'....

Running high-end games will max out our system in many ways, leaving no room for background services running smoothly.

So the only reasonable reply here imo: You will need two separate machines.
