Easy Emby Australian TV Channels IPTV and EPG for Australian Users

Recommended Posts

I just came across a cool guy who set up IPTV and EPG URL's for Australian channels.

Personally, I use TVH to do all the recording and we don't ever watch liveTV but this was so easy to setup I have added it so on the of chance we want to, it is there - without needing to add any emby TV plugins, download epg's or anything.

His website is here :

https://www.matthuisman.nz/2017/07/australia-iptv-epg-files.html

In emby, I just added this to my liveTV TV Source (I am in Brisbane) :

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/iptv/cc5a85e43022b3f4100fa133566aba8d29f47a8b/au/Brisbane/raw-tv.m3u8

And on the TV EPG, I added this (again for Brisbane) :

http://iptv.matthuisman.nz/au/Brisbane/epg.xml

and there you go - all the TV channels for Aus, and the guide - in just a few clicks.

I donated to him, if you use the same, feel free to do so also.

This is my first walk into iptv so please excuse me if this is common knowledge.

Already use this for stuff across the ditch. Its good to give it a mention in its own thread so it doesn't get buried  :)

Checking if you have channel 10 working in Brisbane? I get audio only. My Kodi streams are fine, just not in Emby.

There's nothing obvious from that log file. Did you try enabling the stream looping option on the m3u tuner ?thanks.

Ok, I would suggest re-evaluating with the 3.6 release as it will be available soon. Thanks.

I don't know why, but that channel is working just fine now. The PVR in Emby is very impressive. I linked this with IceTV for the EPG and its brilliant. Have ordered an HDHomeRun to use instead of these links as I was blown away about how well the Emby system works.

Hi All,

Thought I would give this a try, but not having a lot of success so far. Guide is showing, Channels are showing but links don't seem to work. Pressing play just shows the circle loading.

Maybe I am missing something obvious?

I have setup a M3U Tuner under LiveTV and added the following link: http://iptv.matthuisman.nz/au/Adelaide/raw-tv.m3u8

Is there anything else I need to install or do?

Checking the log file it has entries like this:

http://iptv.matthuisman.nz/au/Adelaide/tv.320203000302.m3u8 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -metadata service_name=tv.320203000302 -f mpegts pipe:1

Possibly FFMPEG is the issue? Running Synology based Emby Server so not sure how to change or update.

Thank you,

Mine is working fine.

The link on my m3u tuner (for brisbane) is this however - as in my original post :

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/iptv/cc5a85e43022b3f4100fa133566aba8d29f47a8b/au/Brisbane/raw-tv.m3u8

Maybe try that in the first instance and see if it works, then change to Adelaide ?

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have had a little more progress since my first update. In Emby Theater it is now playing some channels, for a limited time, others stop almost on queue after 2 seconds and freezes ET. Quality is quite low, but not sure if that is just the streams vs settings or something else.

Tried it via the web interface, and found it more reliable. Almost got 20mins before it crashed out on one channel.

@@Luke - I'll play some more after work and attach the latest logs. Thanks.

@@vaise - where did you find that 'longer' link? Will give it a try subbing Adelaide in.

Cheers, AD

Hi - the longer link was in the very first post I made to start this thread.  Im not sure where you got the shorter one.  Maybe they are the same thing ?  I dont know.  When I did it - it just worked, then kept working.  I follow this thread and when someone says its not working, I try, and it is working.  Do you have a stable internet connection to do this ?  Could a drop out cause the issues you are seeing ?  I dont know.

Hi @@vaise, Thanks, I grabbed my link from the website you linked. I didn't see any links like you had for your setup though so wasn't sure where yours came from. The GitHub has been taken down though so perhaps its the expanded/redirected url as such. All good, was just curious :)

I don't think it is my internet connection. I am fortunate to have FTTP (Fibre to House) @ 100Mbps. Pings to local server generally just a few ms, and run off a gigabit home network. Given yours is working I assume its not the links as such.

Hi @@Luke, Some more testing this evening, logs attached from the last session. Most channels I tried would not start (0/3 in ET, 1/3 in Web). The one that started only played for a minute or so. Checking the NAS utilisation (screenshot attached), and it appears CPU utililsation peaks around the 50% mark, then down to around 15-20% while streaming is working, but I noticed multiple FFMPEG running. These do not seem to close when it fails to load the stream or stream ends. Restarted the Emby Server but FFMPEGs remained active. Restarted the NAS and tried again, but found the same results. Each process seems to be hitting around 10% usage, but I assume crashing. RAM usage under 35%.

Anyway, it might not relate to the issue but wanted to mention as it seemed high. Hopefully the logs shed some more light.

Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Thank you, AD

Hi @@Luke,

Well yes :) Nothing is working.

None of these LiveTV streams seem to start. When it tries to run them it crashes Emby Theater (unresponsive) and get the circle loading icon stuck on, and as I mention in my last update, the FFMPEG processes seem to remain open when it crashes causing some higher CPU utilisation. Web Interface seems just as unreliable. I don't understand the logs enough to understand why its failing. As vaise confirmed, the links seem to be working his end, so I assume its something with my setup on the Synology (vs Windows) or something else crashing. Not sure how to go about troubleshooting this further.

Thank you, AD

[tcp @ 0x3337ec0] Failed to resolve hostname sbslivefvstreaming.sbs.com.au: Temporary failure in name resolution

Seems to suggest ffmpeg can't reach the domain.
