not sure of your question...Currently, the "live tv" plug in uses a system that relies on Windows media Center to manage the tuners, etc.  It then uses a IP based communication from the WMC environment to the MB3 environment...

 

So basically, it goes like this...

 

HDHR tuners --> WMC --> Live TV Server --> LiveTV Plugin (MB3 server) --> MB3 Client

 

Yes, it's a lot of steps to get from here to there...

No. NextPVR (another backend and plugin) is independent from WMC, therefore not requires it.

true - but if you are using the HDHR Prime (i.e.Prime implies Cable Card), it is likely that they are interested in interface to cable, and most cable companies have some sort of DRM copy protected channels, and WMC is the only option *IF* you want them...

 

SO - YES, NextPVR is also an option, but basically it works the same

 

           tuners --> NextPVRr --> NextPVR Plugin (MB3 server) --> MB3 Client
