achanakbhayank 0
I downloaded Emby on Windows10, although the file never seemed to open when I tried clicking it, when I started a new Chrome session there was a page about setting up a server - which I did. Once all the library was populated with movies and TV shows, I then faced the problem - how do I access this server on clients? (e.g. Xbox and Roku). I've got a "name" which is just my first name (Jon), and I guess represents the server name. But how am i supposed to use it? I've tried creating an account on the emby page under 'sign up', entered a username (Jon_X85), email, and password. Then it tells me to connect to a server, but only gives me the option of entering my host ip. If I do that, and connect to the server, and I'm then logged in under 'Jon'. So whats the point of the Jon_X85 username if it's not automatically linked to my server? How am I supposed to log in on other clients and access my server? When I load up the Xbox app it's already connected to 'Jon' presumably because they're on the same network. But it wont let me play anything because i don't have Premiere. (???) If i try and log in under my Emby username on the Xbox it says "Sign In Error. Invalid username or password". (????) I'm not some technophobe, but this was a hell of a lot easier to set up on Plex.Sling TV PureVPN TunnelBear Edited December 14, 2018 by achanakbhayank
Solution samuelqwe 313 Posted December 14, 2018 Solution Share Posted December 14, 2018 You do not need an account to use Emby on your local network, however if you have an account it will be easier to access your server when you aren’t home.
