roberthleeii 58
I have a small problem when recording 1080p shows when there are multiple recordings. I get “hiccups” in some of my 1080p recordings when I have multiple recordings going on at the same time. A 1080p video records fine when it is the only one recording and this has never happened on a lower quality channel. It is a not that big of an issue but annoying. On the effected recordings I will get 1-5 seconds of garbled sound and/or severe video distortion. After the 1-5 seconds it resumes fine until it happens again. If there are problems in the recording there are usually not more than 4 or 5 bad spots in an episode recording. I don’t know if this is some type of read/write, processor speed, or networking issue and don’t know how I would figure out that info.
Luke 36891
Hi, hiccups when watching while recording, or in the completed recording afterwards? Is this coming from hd homerun?

Luke 36891
Is this multiple on the same HDHR, or are they spread across the two units?
rouq 23
What is the specs of your server? Are you on the 3.6 beta release? By the way you described it, it sounds a lot like the problem I have also. See this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/58274-emby-dvr-running-on-syno-nas-burst-of-packet-loss/&do=findComment&comment=570343 I spent some time debugging it with HDhomerun tech support. My server is a Synology DS418play. At first, I was only capable of recording 3 streams concurrently. If I was recording a fourth one, I started to see big burst of packet loss in the HDhomerun stats. I upgraded my RAM to a 8GB matched pair (2x4) to activate dual channels memory on my processor. I gained 1 stream. Now I can record 4streams without packet loss ( if emby server is not transcoding something, otherwise it will be less than that). But if I put a fifth one, then packet loss start again. My conclusion so far is that depending on the server hardware specs, emby server can struggle to keep up with multi stream recordings. I will retest this when emby server 3.6 will be out to see if the improvements announced will have an effect on this. roberthleeii 58
Is this multiple on the same HDHR, or are they spread across the two units? It seems to happen when there are more than 3 streams recording (both in use). I have no idea if it is tuner specific because I have no idea which stream is coming from the two HDHomeruns. Have you tweaked the settings on your NIC(s)? There are a few recommended(by SilconDust). Also possibly in your router. My ASUS for example has settings to prioritize streaming traffic. Also separate the router(WiFi) from the tuners - This used to be a huge issue - When I got the ASUS a couple years ago I had to actually move the router to a different room, the strength of the WiFi radio(s) signal was so much stronger than my old Linksys caused issues similar to what you are seeing. I routinely record 8+ channels simultaneously without issue using a 10+ year old I7 build. Your issue could be computer related but I would look more to the issues I mentioned above. What type of PC is doing the recording? Edited December 12, 2018 by kanipek
