chef 3745
Creating a plugin which writes the xml for rss is pretty straight forward. The question I have is, if you host the xml in a plugin Service provider endpoint, would it be public? In other words, you would want no authentication on the endpoint of the domain so people could access the syndication feed? Or is it only accessed from authenticated users? yasuno 7
I think it should just be a public feed, adding authentication might make the barrier a little high for the average user. But this would be a super useful tool especially if we can expose the poster image and title because then it becomes an easy way to post to Discord and Website feeds if you wanted to. I can get the basics down, creating the public endpoint from your server, and a quick editor to create channel/item objects for rss xml which would sit on the endpoint. But BaseItem art requires authentication to obtain, so I'm not sure where/how you'd link the item information from your library to a public endpoint without making a hole in your server security. Or duplication poster art for the endpoint. That's where I'm a little hazy on weather it's a good idea or not. I guess because no one would have access to the actually stream just BaseItem info it's not a big deal. Edited October 15, 2019 by chef

That is very client specific. A channel could be written that would appear at the top of the home page beside trailers etc. But a scrolling news feed would have to be implemented by each of the client developers.
