Cover Art - Multiple Movie Versions?

I have folders with multiple movie versions in them, mostly 1080p and 4K versions.

How does Cover Art choose which overlay to use?  I see that most of them have the "BluRay" overlay and just a few have the "4K" overlay.

I'd like to display the "highest" version available as the overlay.

Thanks!

To me it looks like CA uses what version the nfo is created for.  So currently the only way around this is applying tags "ca-uhd".

Haven't tested what manual grouping displays though.

Ebr is correct. When you group versions, currently it is fairly arbitrary as far as which version becomes the primary display version. This is something that we'll need to review in the future. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies!  Given this, I've gone with creating a separate Library for 4K UHD movies.  This solves the issue I posted here and another - that UHD looks awful on our standard def TVs - at least until some form of tone mapping happens in the future.

Hi,

Was wondering whether there has been any update on this?  Currently CA is displaying the SD cover when I have both SD and HD versions.

Emby: 4.3.1.0 on QNAP

CA: 4.1.8

Thanks,

Marc

Would anyone care to test out this version of CoverArt with multi-version movies?

[added to catalog as 4.1.9]

I will, since I asked, obviously. I’m in the middle of a home automation project right now, but will give it a go in a couple of days.

I'm running Emby on my Synology (native, not w/Docker). Where about would I manually install the plugin? I've on ever used the catalog.

I can ssh in and likely will have to move it and overwrite the existing one, just not sure where they get stored.... I'll continue to poke around.

yep, it consistently shows the cover associated with the highest resolution version of the movie

Did you also notice it places an indicator on the cover?  Does that look okay?

Working exactly as I hoped!

Just installed the beta, thank you for your time on this. It is showing the correct (highest-resolution) cover for me now.

However, while the multi-version indicator is working, it is being hidden under the watched indicator. Any thought of a treatment where it shows something like stacked covers instead?

Thank you all very, very much.  This has been driving me insane for a few months trying to find a way to force it to pick the highest resolution in my multi-version sets.  Updated to latest plug-in and it was exactly what I was wanting.  Thanks again.

I want to 2nd the appreciation. Thank you very much. I was able to consolidate my two libraries of standard vs UHD movies back to one.  You can tell at a glance if there is a 4K in the list and you know to pick a version for the device you're on thanks to the way Emby handles multiple versions. You guys rock.
