can you please add a Christmas genre folder somewhere it would be most helpful.

Sorry your media has to have a Christmas Genre assigned to it.  Then when you click the Christmas genre all the media with that genre will appear.

Just add "Christmas" as a genre to the movies you feel are "Christmas" related, then you will have a "Christmas" genre displayed.

I did this with a collection instead of a genre since that's easier.  I created a Holiday Movies collection and just add anything to it that we only watch at this time of year.

That wouldn't show under a Movie genre though, would it ?

I think I did that a few years ago but found out there was a limit on how many movies you can add to it. I have tooooooooons of christmas movies so I just manually added a Holiday genre and also a holiday tag so it would play a custom intro christmas intro before hand.

Did you remember to hit Save after adding the Genre?  Could you verify the genre appear when you select Edit Metadata on a movie.

Ok, the current 3.5.3 release requires that you run a library scan after adding new Genres. It's not ideal, I realize, but with the upcoming 3.6 release this won't be necessary anymore and it will all just work on the fly. Thanks.

Nope, but it gets me a grouping I can use with less effort.

I can confirm that adding a genre under the current beta server is instant, as I did the same thing yesterday.

One point to note that I found, is that you have to lock the genre data, otherwise if the item is refreshed, the genres get reset to the defaults, i.e. without the "Christmas" genre.
