Home Videos and Photos - Images not displaying

Starting with version 3.5.x, I've had issues with digital photos (.jpg) not loading, all of these images worked in pre 3.5 installs on Windows 10. 

 

I just installed Emby 3.6.0.74 beta on my Windows 10 system to see if this has been fixed upgraded from 3.4.3.  Here is an example when I go into Home Videos & Photos and click on a folder containing photos.  It doesn't matter if the images are nested in a sub folder.   IMG_5284 below will never display in emby.  If I reinstall version 3.4.3 it will work just fine, this only started happening once I upgraded to 3.5 and beyond.  I've rescanned the folder, I've taken these images and put them in their own folder and only added that one folder to the library to see if they'll load, but nothing has worked thus far.  Examples below:

 

 

If I click on IMG_5284, I'm presented with the following image:

 

I can click on the download link and the file will download and I can open it just fine on my computer's photo app, it just doesn't work in emby.  I've searched through the community but haven't found a solution to this problem.

i just upgraded to the latest version and yes i still am having this issue.  version 3.6.0.75 beta.

 

ive attached one of the photos that wont load as well as updated logs.  There are a ton throughout my library like this, i have my photos broken down by year group, year, then month. The photos that wont load ive copied to the first folder to see if it was an issue with the folder structure but they still didnt load so i scrapped that theory.

Thanks, I’m running 3.6.0.75 is there a newer beta?

 

I did a refresh of all metadata on the home and videos library and replace images was checked, let me know if I should do something else. I’m also ok with deleting the library and re-adding it.

 

After doing the refresh, the images are still not loading properly.

 

I will say the images that work do load much faster on this version so well done.

I just received the latest update and my issue continues.  I'm now on version 3.6.0.78 beta.

 

After receiving the update and doing a fresh scan, since the issue persisted, I also did the below:

 

1. I deleted my photos library

2. restarted emby

3. did a scan of all libraries.

4. re-added my photos directory

5. did a full scan

6.  tested and the issue continues.  I've included an updated log file.

It's very strange. Can you zip up a folder of photos for testing and attach them here? thanks.

I've attached some zipped up photos, the ones that don't work are titled "no".  One thing that I did notice is a large percentage of my photos that aren't loading were taking with the front camera on my iphone but it isn't exclusive to the front camera and some photos with the front camera do load properly.

Great news, just updated to 3.6.0.80 beta, rescanned the library and every photo is loading perfect!

Hello, I just re-installed Emby after not using it forever and I'm having this exact issue. Videos seem to work fine. .jpg files don't display anywhere. Using 4.0.1.0.

Just wanted to add a quick note as I started this thread, that I'm now on Version 4.1.0.4 beta, added hundreds of photos last night and everything is still working perfect for me.  Good luck!

Got it. I'm currently running the server on my laptop and the media files are on a router on our local network. I'd like to have a dedicated server and tried to use a Linux box with no success. Hoping by get a Windows 10 copy and just run the server only for media in the future.

 

Anyway, as far as setup at the moment, the photos are on \\Router\ExternalDriveName\PhotoFolder. Music and videos are set up in a similar way, and both of those seem to be working just fine. Home videos are on the same external drive as the photos but music is on its own external drive.

Hi.

I am new to Emby (this week, in fact), coming from Plex, trying something new, to see if it works for me. Just added a folder and no .jpg images are showing. I use Emby 4.2.1.0. Any advice would be so appreciated.

Hi.  That looks like loading the image failed at a display level.  What is the format of the image?  What type of library is it?  Where is that tiny screen snippet from (can we please see the whole screen)?

Hello again...perhaps, I did not allow enough time. I can be impatient at times. After typing my post here...I restarted the server and the pics were fixed...as of now, no problem.
