MndWrp 99
Hello all, The server seems to work fine but for the life on me, i cannot acces where the package is installed. I installed it in the basic way, reading the instruction from your website. As i understand it, the root folders are hidden in the synology interface, and emby along with it. I would basically like to be able to access the emby install location to manage my collections easier. On my previous emby server experiences, I typically just create a collection via the interface and copy the related images in the resulting collections folder, directly in the server install location. is that possible on a synology? can i somehow share the emby package location ? would changing the default cache path include collections ? thank you ! erikblues 4
Hi, The installation folders do not keep any media. You configure your media location by setting up your library on one of your shared folders. That is where you can “copy your media” into and manage your media manually, not in the emby installation folder. Just open emby, go do the settings dashboard and look for the Library folders setup. You will only be able to access the installation folder by getting root access to your Synology over SSH. But you should not do that. Those folder are hidden in purpose and do not store any media. Also, if you have trouble understanding the library then there is a pretty good chance you will PERMANENTLY BREAK your NAS if you access it with Root over SSH. This is only for advanced Linux geeks. Hope that helps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited December 1, 2018 by erikblues

What i meant was about collection images only. i don't intend to change anything else. I screwed up enough systems in my life to know better

3djc 5
Great timing for your question, as i was wondering about ways to save those data, since the emby app does not seem to register with Hyper Backup. And then I found this : https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Backup I"m yet to impelement it to confim it is still actual, but it seems ok, but it will not save the metadata themselves, and if you are like me, you do not want those mixed with the actual video. So I'm yet to find a solution for that 3djc Edited December 2, 2018 by 3djc

(If we could have chapter images along with the media, that would be great, but that's another story...) Collections however are a different beast since their metadata has to reside within the server. My initial question was about trying to have access to the collections folder in the Synology ecosystem. It is much simpler and quicker to copy and paste the necessary collection images in the right folder than adding images via the emby interface.
