iOS App and Emby Premiere

I am trying to access my Emby Server using the VPN server in pFsense. The problem I am having is at best it will only play content for a minute before it asks me to sign up for Emby Premier.

I have a lifetime Emby Premier subscription.

Any idea on how to get ti to work with the VPN. I am using an IPad Pro. It works perfectly when I am at home using my network.

Hi, you're saying the same device and app works in your home network?

Yes Luke , the same device , IPad Pro, works perfect at home within network. It seems for some reason when I use the VPN server in pFsense it cannot either receive or get the Emby Premier code when I’m outside my network and will not play video. It constantly asks me to purchase Emby Premier with I already have a lifetime sub. Any idea on how to get this to work?

Thanks.

Here's the odd thing that makes this difficult. Normally you should be able to use your local network to validate the Premiere subscription on the device. Then you take it off network, and if connections fail to our admin server, there is resiliency to prevent disruption and keep your Premiere validated.

However in this case, it sounds to me like the connection is not actually failing, but rather your VPN is intercepting the request and sending back some kind of invalid response. This may cause the app to think you don't have Emby Premiere. Is there a way you can look at this on the vpn side?

Thanks Luke for your help. The Way pFsense works in reference as a VPN server is that I can connect with my iPad directly to the VPN server in pFsense but it can only access my network and cannot access the internet. So Emby sends out the Premier key validation but cannot reach the emby servers for validation.

Is there another way to handle this so it will work other than trying to see if I van get the pFsense vpn server to access the internet?

Appreciate the help.

What i'm saying is can you look into how the vpn server is responding to the request? If it doesn't respond at all that would be ideal so that the app interprets it as a connection failure. But it sounds like that's not what is actually ahppening.

Thank you Luke for your help. I guess I could use WireShark or pFsense has a packet capture feature that I could use. Once I figure that out I will post results. I’ve been a Premiier member for a while but this is the only thing that has stopped me from using Emby when I travel. Hope to figure this out . Will post back. Thanks Again.
