thelangs 2
Not sure if this belongs in this forum or Roku.. I didn't have internet access for awhile, so I wanted to access my movies on my roku. My local network is up and running aok. The roku connects to my local emby server just fine. Selecting "all movies", I get the list of movies, but real slow response. When I try to access a particular movie, the roku just spins, waiting for a response, which it never gets. My question is bascially, is the server or roku trying to access the internet to get information on the movie or something like this ? Luke 37022
Hi, no, it doesn't require internet access. Please attach the information requested in how to report a problem. thanks.
thelangs 2
OK, I restarted the server, unplugged the modem, this dupicated the "no internet" condition. As stated up, Roku stalls trying to play movie and is VERY slow access to movie data, etc I sent a Roku debug log - timestamp 16:14 PST..
ebr 14904
I don't see any issues in your log (other than you attempting to send it before you lit your internet connection back up ). I wonder if maybe the Roku itself is trying to send statistics home? I know they report a statistic of "Total hours streaming" in our analytics. The device is designed to serve internet content so they may not have thought about the scenario of localized playback.
speechles 1917
The Roku will throw an error initially when launching the app. It will say you might experience problems if the app requires internet, proceed anyways? or cancel. You proceed. It starts normal. If you enable debug options in the app it adds a noticeable delay to every single thing. Only do this if you have an issue don't ever do it for any other reason it will just slow everything down. Luke 37022
Ah yes, good call about the debug options. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
ebr 14904
Since he's only noticing the delay on playback start and it only happens when no internet I don't think it can be the debug options here. Really sounds like the device itself trying to send playback statistics to Roku to me...
